  • Rear wiper is a must - window stays surprisingly clear from spray but lying water takes quite some time to clear and therefore will frustrate. You will have to forgo the insulated glass however. Think of raining - parking / manoeuvring at low speed. The 4S I had was all black and after 250 miles the rear was filthy but the rear window clear.
I have the rear wiper and I manually applied ceramic coating to the rear window and the hydrophobic properties on the coated rear window have eliminated my use of the rear wiper.

I was resistant to living without it, but I think people can live without it.

Fair enough but I know I couldn't - we must get special rain in Scotland as hydrophobic coating on the windows (this is standard) just doesn't cut it and when reversing in rain and no means to clarify the view is just nuts (sorry).

It is impressive however that the window will stay clear and clean if already dry and it then rains whilst on the move. It's a real oversight that they didn't do something different with the rear camera (as per Mercedes) and retract it out of sight to keep it clean as it quickly attracts grime as does the rear of the car in general.

If my USA car came with hydrophobic coating, it was the worst possible solution made by man in 2025. My car was delivered very dirty and iron remover removed a lot of iron from its surface, including the windows.

The rear camera is like its from last century. The surround camera is not very good either. But I would still buy it because it is better than nothing.

I spent some time with the SA yesterday and settled on this spec for now:
  • Vesuvius Grey RS Spyder wheels
  • Removed HUD - right move?
  • Removed insulated glass - right move?
Thanks for all the responses on this thread, all super helpful!

They are all very personal choices and likes. That's the good thing about speccing a Porsche.
Personally, I wouldn't have spent so much on wheels, and for better range. Spending more on internal stuff where I always sit, and on driver assistance options, is more important for me.
