Bizarre.. Banning Polestar and then allowing Volvo to sell?.. Makes no sense. But then I thought, why are you surprised?

Some time ago the MoD in the UK banned EV’s cars with Chinese software within 2 miles of ā€˜sensitive’ establishments. They also totally banned connecting phones to those cars and warned against sensative conversations being held in them.

When I posted on here about this there were quite a few members attacked me for posting nonsense - looks like the US government is going further and banning cars full stop.

Itā€˜s ironic that Porsche stopped production of the ICE Macan’s in Europe as the software didn’t comply with the cyber security rules.

competition is good, especially for a company like Porsche. If anything, competition may spur Porsche to keep their prices in check, or perhaps may cause them to do a better job with their software updates, etc..

Polestar has some really nice offerings - great styling, beautiful interiors, and, unfortunately numerous software glitches. I’m sad to see them leave the US market.

I agree that competition is always good - but I don't think Polestar / Volvo are in the same tier as Porsche. From a dynamic driving standpoint they aren't close. From a software standpoint Porsche is actually better. Polestar has never had good sales in the US - most recently only 6% of their sales came from US.

I would definitely agree that Polestar and Volvo are not in the same tier as Porsche - I'm fine with that. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing / driving the EX60 once it launches in the US. Hoping the SPA3 platform doesn't have all of the issues plaguing SPA2. If I can get 80-90% of the goodness of my Macan 4 in an EX60, I'll be fine.

Too early to compare software on the Macan vs the incoming EX60.

And you're absolutely right about Polestar sales - it's been a struggle for them - or, as of yesterday, it was a struggle for them.

I test drove the Polestar 4 before ordering my Macan Turbo.

For me, the driving dynamics weren’t even close. The Polestar’s interior felt quite basic, and by the end of the test drive I was already bored of it. That said, its 360° camera system was definitely better.

Personally, I think Porsche got so much right with both the interior and exterior design of the Macan. It’s a fantastic car to drive and to spend time in.

I genuinely feel for those whose Macans have been plagued with issues, because when everything is working as it should, it really is a great car.

Agree 100% - but I do think some have issues due to not having realistic expectations about the vehicle - especially in regard to software and update issues. For me the entire goal of owning and driving a Porsche is for the driving experience. The software is necessary but it would never be a reason I would say "no way" to the Macan vs. a different vehicle (especially one that was boring to drive but was perceived as having better software).
