Instrument Cluster suddenly going dark

Parked at the airport 2 days ago. Got back just an hour ago. Instrument cluster is dark. Middle display and overhead display is fine. Everything else is fine. Shut down and restarted several time but nothing. Icons go on when initial on then everything goes dark. Driving is fine, no issues (because heads-up display is fine so no speeding tickets). Porsche app gives me the range and battery info, tires, etc.

Any ideas? Anyone had this happen to them? It is not the 12 volt battery as everything else is fine.

Do you see the speed displayed in the center tube? If so you may have configured the instrument cluster for "minimal distraction" mode. Press the tube selection button to select the center tube, then use the scroll wheel to change to the display configuration you prefer.

All dark. Tried all that. I can only see the heads-up display cycling. Also, went through the "Display" setup on the centre screen and everything is as setup from before.

And just like that, everything came back after being parked for an hour or so!!

My center console went black for a whole morning, then came back, then went black the next day again. I then reset it by holding the center panel Mute button for 15 seconds. It has not happened again since, but it's only been a couple of days. My instrument cluster stayed on while this was happening, but, at one point, my turn signal wasn't even working. Troublingly glitchy.

Is this a common occurrence and does the reset tend to fix it, or is a dealer visit likely needed?

I searched the forum before I posted and didn't find anything about panels going dark. If it happens again, I will try this holding of the mute button. Thank you for this. I didn't know there is such a thing for a reset. But I will also check with the dealer if it happens again.

Yep. If it happens to me again, it's going to have to go to the dealer.

interesting...my instrument display has never gone dark...but today, my main/center display was black/blank for like 30 seconds after coming outta reverse...

My HUD has gone dark, but has not come back, even after a month. My Porsche dealer can’t get parts to replace the HUD control module, so waiting on that.

Had a similar occurrence yesterday when I was about a mile from the Porsche dealer and so I stopped in. They told me of a new recall which came out that morning which my SA believes will take care of it. It's a big fix though so she said it'd take several days.
Anyway, you might want to see if your vehicle is affected as well, but I got the impression that it was most of them.
It was something to do with a whole network upgrade for the car.

a new recall campaign specific to the cluster? Maybe your SA was lumping it in with the software update that is being applied for the rear cameras...?

No, she listed the camera campaign as a second recall I needed addressed.
the cluster malfunction (which is why I stopped in) was definitely different.
humorously, when I went to leave the dealer (they couldn’t do the updates for a few days as it turns out), everything was working again.

She said they had literally been briefed on it about an hour before I showed up so I’m not sure how long it takes those registries to update…

Hi all. Finally got our Macan Turbo this monday. Love it and the engine and handling is beutiful. My fist Porsche - coming from a XC90 T8.

But… I had the instrument cluster going dark today. After parking and locking the car everyting came back normal. Yesterday the innodrive stopped working. Same fix there. This evening I couldn’t open the trunk from the driver side. Had to get out and use the key from outside.
Seems like the software guys at Porsche are having some issues here..

I suppose our brand new car have all the latest updates? Any one know how to check that? I believe the info on the screen is just the android version of the PCM.

Had the same issue three weeks ago, the cockpit display went black after a short stop.
The issue resolved over night, but I got a bunch of error messages saying the assistance services are not working.
After getting a software update at the dealer it seems to work fine now.
