If I leave my keyfob in a bag that I place in the frunk, would this still be recognized as being in the car so that I can still drive and also not be locked out?

Why would you want to do that?
Same as leaving in your coat pocket when using the car and leaving your coat in either the trunk or frunk and shouldn't be an issue as long as the key can be detected.

Yeah, exactly. I usually have my key in a backpack and want to just store the backpack in the frunk.

Historically hasn't been an issue when I've done that but the risk is that if the interior sensor loses contact with the key fob then you'll likely get some warnings (and PVTS+ would most likely be triggered too).

You'll know pretty much immediately when powering on the car - either it will or it won't!

I wouldn’t for the following reasons:
1. The further the distance for a connection the faster the battery will drain (same for cell phones).
2. imagine it loses the connection (drained battery?), not only can’t you use the car, but you also can’t open the frunk to get your key to change the battery.

Irrelevant anecdata - I had to get the AA (I was in the UK) to break into my VW Golf (2014 MY) in that exact circumstance. Well, almost exact - I didn't intend to leave the key in the car whilst I rode around Dalby Forest for a couple of hours.

Do a controlled experiment at home.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Will just keep my key with me in the car rather than the frunk 👍🏼

Frunk and trunk can be opened from the interior - use case is when driving the car - so battery drain should be of little or no concern.

I've done it many times to no ill / noticeable effect.

Wouldn’t you be worried about someone driving off with your car if you stepped out for a moment while leaving the key in the frunk?

Nope. The probability of hell freezing over is arguably greater!
