The 4S in the UK doesn’t come with RWS - it’s an option. I was going to get a 4 and then was offered an earlier build on an S. I then noticed that the price difference narrowed between them as some of my selected options were standard or cost less on 4s. Then in my case, the S was considerably cheaper insurance on the S rather than a Turbo, so that meant the S was the top model I could sensibly go with. Perhaps that’s not the case for you.

What sealed it, was that the S could be registered before April 25 but the 4 couldn’t - saves me 5 years x £ 425
Thanks for your insights, sadly, I'll get hit with the luxury car tax now, and of course pay-per-mile if that eventually goes ahead.

I've just spec'd up a 4S - £101,271, Turbo - £111,458, and GTS - £101,665. The GTS, which I had not initially considered, seems like the best option, because it gets a few other items included, that are additional options on the 4S. Finance GFV was also ~£6k higher than the 4S.

I've not looked at insurance yet, but my M5 is group 50, and insurance is sensible - ~£700 renewed Sep'25.

Difference in acceleration times Turbo & M5
I have an F90 M5; the E60 M5 is >4s 0-60, whereas the F90 is <3s - general, non-launch acceleration is also great. The Macan 4 I test drove was obviously much less reactive, that's why I'm looking at the higher performance variants. These vehicles are of course completely different animals, I'm not looking to match, but do want plenty of oomph when called for :CWL:!

Yeah the F90 M5 is insane. I had one behind me the other day. I had gone around a slower car and sent it. He got blocked for a bit then got around the slower car…he pulled up behind me like I was sitting still 😳. Granted, regular EV’s aren’t geared for higher speed pulls, but wow that M5 was nuclear.

FWIW, the Turbo pulls quite well at speeds under 100mph. Haven't had the opportunity to test above that; I imagine "electrics lose torque at high speeds" will eventually kick in ...

The Taycan/Audi had a two-speed transmission in the back, which was quite annoying as it added gear shift lag for two-thirds of the torque. I'm sure it helps up at 150 mph, but I will never drive this vehicle at that speed...

Never experienced gear shift lag in either of my Taycans.

1st gear came into play if you launched or were adventurous in Sport or Sport Plus drive modes only and rarely in Normal drive mode.

Is it needed, probably not and omitted from both the Macan and Cayenne EVs (possibly cost grounds?).
