My Macan 4 was registered in late May 2025. It has done 14,500 miles since then.

The car and app both indicate the next service is due in 11,00 miles or July 2027, whichever comes sooner.

Why then is the dealer hounding me with messages saying the car needs to be serviced as its 9 months since delivery.....? Clearly a money making ploy, but in the days of apps and cars saying when they need servicing its pretty pointless, surely?

I don't intend to have any servicing done until the app/car says so - that's how BMW work and I niever had a problem. What have others done?

TIA

I had such a notice and just had the dealership reset it. I think they forgot to set it up with the proper time interval at delivery

Service interval is 20K miles or 2 years - whichever is first.

Read the Owner's manual...

Oh dear, another 'RTFM' accolite..... The clue is in the user name. 🙄
If that were true, why would the car and the app say different? And why does the distance and long stop date jeep changing......

Condition based servicing, especially on EVs, has overtaken the metronomic servicing of old. Clearly Porsche systems are stuck on ICE standards!

As Shawn says, his dealer simply reset their datelines and I'll request mine do the same. But it shouldn't really be up to me on a car costing £90k....... 😬

Agree.. my XC40 did the same thing and in that case I had to dismiss the warning every single time I got in the car…super annoying. it seems to be one of those software “enhancements“ that works on a timer that needs to be set up rather than any internal system trigger but unlike the old ICE oil change reminder the benefits, don’t quite translate as EVs really don’t need such generalized regular maintenance reminders.

I received an email saying my car was coming up to 1 year old and book a service. Called service and they apologised and thought the automated email system couldn’t differentiate between an EV and ICE ! I believe the ICE are 10k or 1 year.

If an engine needs oil and spark plugs and belts then it needs more service, for sure!

Keep your head in the sand if you like.

All Porsches whether ICE or EV have fthie same service intervals.

Why?

To keep the Service Dept busy.

Smart Service is not smart and attempts to track various items such as wiper blade replacements and other basic consumables which are on a 12 month cycle. Rather than 24.

You can edit yourself but um you'd have to figure how to do that....

So you've just confirmed it has nothing to do with the vehicle NEEDING a service, but that Porsche are just shambolically organised and money-grabbing, which is my point. Thank you for clearing that up!

I can say with certainty that Porsche are THE WORST premium brand I have dealt with, bar none.

Not according to the ‘My Porsche’ app on my iPhone.

I took delivery in April 2025, and the app is displaying October 2026 as the first service date, at approximately 18k miles.

Maybe a software update?

So it's correct then - 18K - 20K and you may be closer to 20K by that time.

So this is my third Porsche from 2 different dealers (first EV) .. I've also owned BMW's, Mercedes. My experience with premium brands is definitely dependent on the dealer I buy from. Poor dealer, poor experience. My experience with BMW is the same as your experience with Porsche .. because the dealer was poor and every aspect of ownership reflected that. I haven't had the same experience with Porsche although, having been on this forum for some time, I can see that others would agree with you. I can also see (from this forum) that dealers have even less of a clue when dealing with EV's and don't really care to learn in many cases. When you look at the drive to decouple dealer from purchasing (Tesla/Rivian) and going direct, they are writing their own obituary in the long run. Especially with EV's and in spite of the current administration in the US, EV's will win out.. it may take longer because of those headwinds but with 400 to 500 mile range cars becoming available in the next generation, software stabilizing and supply chains stabilizing, battery prices dropping (for a whole host of reasons) it strikes me as the world is going to flip .. even if the US is going to lag and endanger their ability to compete. So strap in.. it's going to be a bumpy ride and lots of disruption is in store.
