Yes, it's not like we would have had a choice had they told us they were going to do it, since it's a mandatory safety thing, but if you don't HAVE to go in for anything else, I'd wait until you can be sure the update won't brick your car.It’s a mandatory update so you can’t opt out of it. The service department is required to perform it.
The only thing that might change their mind is the fact that the update seems to brick the cars and create a huge headache for them. But I would personally avoid bringing the car in for any service until this gets sorted out.
