A few days ago I had a puncture on the side wall of my tyre. I then learnt that
1) we don’t have run flat tyres and
2) you cannot use the gunk/compressor when the damage is on the side wall.
Thankfully (by a miracle) no damage to my 22in Spyder wheel. Phew!
So - now I’m considering carrying a spare tyre if I’m travelling far. Ideally a lighter wheel/tyre combo to get me to the next place to properly repair/replace the tyre, sort of skinny version of the real thing.
My situation happened after a long drive in the rain and dark at 10pm - thankfully I had only just arrived at my destination (hotel). The incident happened literally in front of the hotel thankfully. I still had to wait around 4 hours between calling the AA rescue, they called the tyre specialist , tyre being located and sourced, and tyre man coming over at around 2am. I really don’t want to go through this again, especially if this is at night, on a motorway….
So, any recommendations/thoughts (other than “don’t damage the tyre” ?
Thank you!
