While looking at various tyre options for Taycan I noticed that the relatively newish Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyre is available in NE0 variant. "E" being the Macan model.

Good chance some electric Macan's will come with this tyre from the factory. No sign of a NF0 type for the Taycan. Perhaps, Porsche will look to the Pilot Sport 5 for that?

This post has just made me realise that I didn‘t look at the type of tyres on my Taycan when I collected it last week!

I’m going to have to go out and take a look now…

Interesting and encouraging.

So whilst the only N labelled EV tire on that site appears to be the 255/45 as you show, the other sizes are supposedly for any EV passenger car/SUV etc.

For example the 305's on our 21" wheels - whilst not specifically promoted/recommended by Porsche, this tire would seem like a very good 'NF0' alternative with genuine EV build characteristics, no?

I think if I had this option in the US today I would certainly consider it over most any other brand (I also don't have the Porsche tire replacement warranty pkg to worry about).

Of course many will not veer regardless from the Porsche recommended applications and TireRack for example like the resellers echo the 'company' lines on this:

TireRack Quote:
It is also important to know that while Porsche N-specification tires have been fine tuned to meet the specific performance needs of Porsche vehicles, the tire manufacturers may also build other tires featuring the same name, size and speed rating as the N-specification tires for non-Porsche applications. These tires may not be branded with the Porsche N-specification because they do not share the same internal construction and/or tread compound ingredients as the N-specification tires. Using tires that are not N-specific is not recommended and mixing them with other N-specification tires is not permissible.

Mine are 21 All Season Continentals ProContact Rx and I think an alternative from factory is some type of Goodyears.

This was the measurement on delivery, not even for some reason.

Back in mid-2020 you could specify a Summer Hi-perf vs say an All-Season in your build - guessing you can still do the same but possibly different tires depending on local climate? I choose Summer Perf which meant Pirellis in Houston at that time.

Yep same as many delivered Taycans including mine but man they wear VERY fast!

Same here and the quick wear – thought I still have some thread left – is the reason I'm starting to hunt around for options.

Normally, I wouldn't dream of straying from NF0 branded tyres – but I'd love to put Michelin's on the car and these specialist EV ones is defo giving me food for thought.

I think if I do stick to NF0 – I'll be giving Goodyear a try – my first time ever considering that brand.

Just an aside, as some may be less familiar, but TireRack always seem to have good info on things like N ratings etc - if you are not aware have a look here (adding a 0 simply refers to the first version of said tire on said vehicle):

I always found it interesting that my Panamera Turbo S came from the factory with just "N0" branded tyres – missing the model variant bit. Not sure what the thinking was here – just some "generic" Porsche spec tyre?

I can certainly recommend the GoodYear F1 Assymetric 5!

My experience with Good Year many years ago was also quite negative. So I was not thrilled when my car was delivered with these tyres, but said I would wear them out and change brand.
I was in for a surprise and have now reevaluated the Brand based on my experience with this particular Tyre. Great grip for my needs and low wear rate. The new model also feels much quieter!

Still a massive Michelin fan though, but I did not want to divert from the NF0 rating this time.

On a related matter have you found tyre pressures on your Taycan needing quite regular attention?

Nope. Mine has been rock solid stable – keeping its pressure to within 0.1 bar for months at a time.

That's good to know as it would be the NF0 tyre I'd move to. One reason for sticking with NF0 is that I'm a bit nervous of having an "normal" tyre shop handle the sensitive carbon ceramic discs on the Turbo S.

Porsche Centre's use special long bolts when removing the wheels to eliminate the change of a wheel hitting a disc – and I think it's very unlikely regular tyre outlet would do the same. Here in Ireland – carbon ceramic disc handling would be seen as "exotic".

And I don't think a Porsche Centre would supply and fit a non-marked tyre!

Am I being stupidly paranoid about my ceramic discs?
