So I took a trip of about 325 miles this week each way (650 round trip). The first half went beautifully and I charged at 2 chargers just to make sure I had enough juice to not have to worry about starting back. EA at Evolve NY worked well on the way there. On the way back, all of a sudden I couldn't get a charge. It kept trying to authenticate and failed 3 times at 2 different chargers in the same place I charged going up. I had to pay to get a charge .. then it worked. I have no clue as to why that happened. My cert is valid and there was no issue charging once I payed. Anyone else have this issue?

Oh, BTW, be very careful with the automated charging port door. On the second try, the flap covering the DC port jammed the port halfway. Porsche couldn't help me and kept asking me to call EA to get help??? on the charging port in their car??? Anyway, I finally got the port to open by doing a bit of flexible manipulation and held the flap down while unlocking and then locking the car (touching the car lock area).. for some reason that allowed the port door to retract and then the flap closed. All in all this cost me about 30 minutes of frustration trying to sort all this out.:angry:
I can't believe that the Porsche 800 number is so lame. People have warned about the automated charging port door.. didn't realize it would happen so easily.

I have had Plug & Charge failures at Electrify America twice. The authentication failed, but I could have paid for the charge and continued. Since I didn’t really need to charge yet I left and came back the next day, at which time the authentication worked and I was able to charge for free.

I had the same problem today. One EA charger would not authenticate my car even after several tries. Fortunately the one next to it worked.

I thought something was wrong with the first charger but it worked just fine for a Mercedes EQE with plug and charge just 2 minutes later.

And it happened again to me today at the Electrify America in Malibu -- P&C didn’t work even after three tries. I could have paid out of my pocket to charge but still had plenty of SoC, so I just left. The only reason I went there was to see exactly where it was located, I had seen it in PlugShare and I happened to be in the area.

EA charger did not work on May 14th and I called to chew them out, was told they were having problems and then EA hung up on me.
My 2019 Audi E-TRON came with 1000 miles of free charging and I got none of that.
EA is a great source of charging irritation.

Sorry to hear your issues and those of other members in this thread.

Same for me except 2 differences:
1. Charge Port Covers/doors:
I did not order the auto/electric charge port option instead went manual figuring Porsche was learning about EVs and software and wanted to avoid being stuck with charge port doors not opening
2. Re EA:
I’ve had 10% of times during 6 months when same charging station previously recognized me then didn’t. Each time I called EA they were able to help me. Simply remote service team tested their charger, rebooted and I’d plug back with them on line and bingo, magically the charger kicked into action. Early days of delivery my car lost the certificate. That was one of my car’s gremlins. Dealership rebooted and worked since. 2 x the EA charge station couldn’t recognize my certificate. I called the 800 #. Service team checked their records and apologized providing me a direct credit sent to the station allowing me to charge as ā€œpaying guestā€ not under Porsche. Result = I got my 1/2 hr free charge!

As one of the community here trying to make the best of our Porsche live beta testing experiences, I would say EA 800 Help Teams are pretty good at remotely getting things sorted (assuming the charging station itself isn’t broken) including providing us instant credit at the pump / charger allowing us to charge.

Hope we can all experience ever improving hassle free drives. Cheers.

I haven't had any EA charger failures but yesterday it spun the standby ball ove a minute before initiated the charge.

I didn’t try contacting EA when P&C wasn’t working because I didn’t want to tie up the charger while there were cars in line.

At the EA that I normally charge at and where I twice had a problem there are only four chargers, with one being down for weeks now, making it a three-charger station with a 85% SoC cap to limit congestion. And the EA I was at yesterday in Malibu only has three chargers in total.

Today the Macan failed to P&C connect and then MyPorche app connect. Called EA support, they reset the charger but P&C failed. The app worked. There was a Hunai at another charger that was having issues with accepting CC payment. She says she had the same problem the other day. Two others there had no issues. Seems that occasionally the EA system doesn't want to take your money regardless of make or model..

I've only had a charging issue once - when I first got the car back in November and didn't really know how public charges worked (SA at dealer never showed me). Other than that it's been pretty good.

TBH, I typically only use EA chargers. I've used ChargePoint maybe 3-5 times, and an EVGo twice at best.

Wish I could use a Tesla charger, it would lower my anxiety of driving from Atlanta to Orlando to visit the parents.
