Hey everyone, awesome start to the week for me - I got rear ended this morning on the way to work.
Left side of the plastic panel at the back is pretty mashed up but it drove fine the rest of the way (which was like 5 miles) - no faults or warnings coming up.
Here’s where I’m worried - I know the batteries are in that area and I have to drive it home an hour and 40 min away, anyone had a similar experience? do you guys think it’s safe to drive?

I’m not a mechanic but I think the battery is well protected. If you don’t see any errors it should be fine. Is there anyway you could stop by a dealership on the way home? I would get it addressed as soon as possible. Sorry about the accident.

The batteries are in the floor between the axles. However, they should be tested to confirm the impact force didn't cause damage to the battery pack.
thank you that’s super helpful know the actual location - it’s going to get looked over by Porsche (I just gotta get it home first)

As an aside to your OP - I’d be interested to hear how you get on with repairs. I caught my passenger side window and bumper at the start of December and it finally went into the repair shop for fairly minor cosmetic repairs but the majority of the bumper accommodated sensors had been knocked out of normal operation, on the 14th of Jan (delayed due to Christmas and a back log) with a 10 day repair timeframe as it’s being ceramic coated to match the rest of the car. Had a call late last week to say the repair shop can’t get some of the parts and Porsche have no idea of a timeframe for supply.

That’s what I was thinking but then you hear about their cars getting totalled after being rear ended because of the battery.
So far it’s fine, annoyingly the nearest Porsche centers are basically where I live so i basically have to get home anyway to get it looked at.

Batteries occupy the full wheelbase and not behind the rear axle so doubtful on any concern on that score.

Be prepared for a shock on repair costs however as you don't yet know if any axle damage etc.

Thank you that’s a relief! I’d heard horror stories from our dealer of cars being totalled from a rear impact - it’s only 4 months old too 😭

Ouch. Glad you’re ok! Be prepared for a long and expensive journey. I got quoted almost 9k for this (lol)

Ouch! yea I’m trying to not think about what it will cost - we’ll have to get the rear section of PPF redone too and that’s not something insurance covers.
