I just wanted to say to all of you rude pricks that the car just sold. As I said would happen, I did not lose a dime. There was nothing more to the story.
Congrats! PS: I’m with you re how you priced it and why you decided to exit quickly and stay with ICE. I love driving my Macan 4 EV when it works. I hate it when it doesn’t. I hate the unpredictable way I don’t know when something new pops up. I love my dealer for the loaners. I can’t wait to have a new Porsche ICE again until Porsche EV models have more normal “rare” cases of glitches/model. 😉

Hi to All.

As one of so many legacy brand addicted Porsche owners (since 1987…), and lots of models although most being 911 variants, panameras and Macan 4S petrol heads….. I this this a great deal except….. The amount of live beta testing done through we the general public of Porsche going from gasoline to electric is frightening.

software gremlins are abundant and unpredictable.

Owner requires full OEM warranty absolutely to survive.

One my dearest friends is one of Porsche USA’s largest Dealerships.

Just yesterday 5/29, we caught up and I said he’s lucky he’s getting Factory Warranty revenues for the many gremlins popping up.

He replied some crucially important car ownership quiet facts:

1. Dealers get paid technician labor rates same for ICE and EV. Ok. Understood.
2. ICE service requires parts and such with hefty margins (true for all brands); EVs do not. Great for car owner bad for dealer!!
3. Service requires mechanic to monitor electronics being updated with actions every 15 mins so they cannot plug car in and walk away for 6hours on major software events so they complain they cannot work on more lucrative ICE cars
4. Dealership Billing Dept needs to be absolutely precise in submitting papers to Porsche or they won’t get warranty service claims paid requiring more Dealer Admin Dept resubmissions.

my conclusion was I was shocked and believe that as I continue owning my EV I will do so ONLY with Factor my warranty and dealership records showing my warrranty is valid. If not I’ll own an ICE Porsche.

if I or anyone buys private to private an ICE that’s one thing. For EV I would do so too and this is a great deal BUT armed with VIN # I would check with a reputable Porsche dealership to ensure they would recognize warranty validity so I can get serviced properly and covered by the OEM warranty

Happy Motoring. 🍾
this is increasingly true for for ICE Porsche's - good luck getting away from software problems with a Hybrid (like 911 GTS or Cayenne/Panamera)…you simply can't own a porsche "out of warranty" - and the requirements for computers to monitor the service is true for all modern cars...

the dealership model is broken in that they make all the revenue from service and not selling the car - eV's break this legacy model and good riddance - why not have a vehicle that doesn't require any service?

if you think you can own a modern Porsche with no warranty covers - well good luck to you - the costs will be eye watering - and the trend is getting worse not better for ICE vehicles'.

I've owned ICE and EV Porsche's for years - this myth that porsche ICE cars are more reliable - is just that - a Myth - and I have the service records to prove it.

like this GEM from last week on my 2022 911 TurboS - dealer diagnosis?
NO ERROR MESSAGE PRESENT. PRE VAL. SERVERAL PASSIVE NO COMMUNICATION TO MANY MODULES. ERASE CODES. TEST DROVE AFTER SERVICE. NO CODES CAME BACK. SYSTEMS ARE WORKING AS DESIGNED.
I'm pretty sure this one will be back and ultimately result in the replacing of one of many modules that is becoming faulty…

ICE Porsche's more reliable - yeah right - in your dreams.

Don't get me wrong, some of you on here are great, super polite and helpful. Some, on the other hand, are downright dismal. Thank you to all the helpful foils!

And this is the reason we will be buying an extended service contract, even though such contracts do not include the High Voltage Battery. One electronic part that breaks may pay for the extended service. We keep our cars past their warranty period. Our 2007 Acura RDX is now owned by the third person in our family!

EVs have everything a gas car has except for the engine. Porsche will still make plenty of money on brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, wheels, tires, HVAC, electronics, lights, body parts, interiors, and everything else. If you're saying that the EV powertrain is too reliable for a dealer to make money on service, I don't think anyone is going to be upset about that.

Good. If they're billing me for 6 hours of time, then they better be spending those 6 hours on my car. Watching a progress meter and clicking a few buttons is easy money.

Now if you're talking about book rate and they're charging an hour of labor and that's a bunch of 5-minute checks on a car, then the obvious solution there is that a trained technician doesn't need to do that work. A basic laborer at a much lower rate can keep an eye on the cars. Construction, healthcare, and technology industries have all figured this out, bringing in the doctors, engineers, architects, and developers only when needed.
4. Dealership Billing Dept needs to be absolutely precise in submitting papers to Porsche or they won’t get warranty service claims paid requiring more Dealer Admin Dept resubmissions.
Nothing to do with EVs. That's just business.

my new mantra - is a good service/warranty contract is cheaper than sales tax on a replacement vehicle - I've good good coverage on all my Porsche's - in some cases until 2032

I agree a good warranty extension is affordable and honestly cheaper than one major out of warranty service…

example here for a Taycan: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/extended-warranty-pricing-from-porsche-2025.27061/

WRAP UP -- Today I bought the PFS EV PLAT VSC IN WARRANTY - 48mo/60k $250 Deductible for $4776 plus sales tax from the local Porsche dealer.

Negotiation was necessary, and I can't thank all of you enough for giving me the information to make that happen. I'd like to give a shout out to @Jonathan S., @hifi239, @Tucson_Jim, @RBGtaycan, @Tooney, @RingoDingo, @ChrisLA, and @MissionC for helping me get the information I needed to improve the price.

Is this forum great or what??
