Does the Taycan have mechanical door releases? I know for myself the electric doors are the number 1 reason I will never get a Tesla. The idea of my daughter in a car seat in-back unable to get out is the stuff of nightmares.

Have you read the instructions for that? You have to rip open a door panel to get to it. You can’t even do it from the outside.

That sounds incorrect. As stated above Model3, Y and now S have a mechanical door opener, but looks like that only is for the front doors. I would think that the Plaid that caught fire used that lever.

I seriously hope this is some kind of random fluke. I personally am pretty confident in the general battery tech, precautions, and designs of EV batteries, including Tesla. So hopefully this is just a flike and not indicative of some kind of issue with the new cars. Its just too weird to have one of these stories when there are not too many “Plaid” Teslas on the road yet.
