@daveo4EV I'm refreshing this thread so often you could probably get a restraining order.

Really interested in how your experience goes! Hoping it's amazing.

ok - delivery is complete - we just finished our first 130'ish mile segment from Atlanta - car is magnificent - better tech, excellent, ride, comfy seats, awesome HUD, and plug&charge worked at EA - where we charged for 19 minutes for 36 kWh

more later, but so far this is an excellent EV - "better" than the Taycan in terms of progress on the tech front and overall "EV ness" - it lacks the "raw" energy of the Taycan and is less sporty - but it's easier to live with in my opinion - easy to get in/out - great cargo room - and a wonderfully designed front cock-pit

so far I'm very very favorably impressed!

this is a great Product from Porsche and a solid effort - I hope it does not get overshadowed by the overall EV environment - this would be a great car for anyone interested in a Macan and better than the gas version IMHO.

I'm also fully documenting the charging stops with all the data - I'll provide summary and analysis once I've had more time to digest and we have more stops under our belt.

today was super busy - and not over yet - we still need to get to our hotel tonight which is not a done deal yet…

tomorrow is a big driving day - 900'ish miles is the plan…we'll see how that goes.

good cup holders - center console is good - lots of storage - wireless phone charger works great and is a good cubby - PCM is pretty good - but has rebooted a few times - UI has been rearranged - it's mostly better - but some "odd" choices for various sub-menus for where they placed things.

my plug&charge is the old Porsche-charging subscription for my Taycan (which is expired now so just "bills" me a normal rate) - not sure how I'm going to get the Macan's 1 year free substituted in - but plug&charge is _WORKING_ so I'm going to leave it alone…cause it's pretty good to just plug in the cable and walk away…

first "insight" the ambient lights in the Macan can be different colors - we all know this and it's a nice interior touch no doubt

but the real news is they are now "diagnostic" - the color and pulsing of hte lights in the interior now also communicate status…

I'm still learning but so far two things are kinda cool:
  • the ambient lights "pulse green" while the car is charging
  • the door "light bars" will change to "orange" to indicate a car in your blind spot - basically if the mirror lights for LCA are illuminated so are the front door ambient lights bars to indicate there is a car in your way
    • my initial impressions is that I find the door ambient lights bars better visually vs. the 3-dots in the outside mirrors…so far I'm calling this a "win"…
the car's menu's have so many tantalizing "feature" - but I'm yet playing with them because we're driving and trying to make distance…and I dont' want to mess with the car's menu's while my buddy is driving his segment!

one thing I do _NOT_ like is the controls in the lower center consule for the AC/Heat - kudo's to Prosche for having real buttons and good tactile feedback - but for some of the "soft buttons" the whole "panel" moves up/down when you press the button - it works, it's ok, it provided haptic feedback, but it's not my favorite design/implementation choice - this i not a big problem in the grand scheme of things - but the car is not perfect!! 😝

we did have to deploy the "work around" to get Plug&Charge working - factory reset the PCM - join the car to your Porsche ID account -make sure plug&charge is "enabled" in PCM for the vehicle - drive the car on some "public highway" - enter a charging destination into the navigation - and then log into the app and "install" the certificate…

once we did all that plug&charge claimed it was set up -and then 2-3 hours later we made our first stop and it "just worked" - joy!!

I like the passenger screen - I know there are haters out there, and it's not worth the money - but I prefer it to what ever blank plastic dash piece would be there if I had not ordered it…

so far:
  • the off angle screen viewing is very effective - as a driver it looks 100% black to me - but is easy to read from passenger seat
  • it has "apps"
    • AppCenteris a "Tile" in the Passenger Screen

2500 mile road trip - say your going from Atlanta to Santa Cruz

OMG - the passenger screen has the Weather Channel App

and low and behold - the Weather Channel app has the Weather Channel "radar" map - centered on your current location - so you can see the weather on your route from the comfort of your 14-way massage seats

so far - tooo cool. great for planning your route and knowing what you're getting yourself into…

between now and tuesday I think this will be useful.
