I don't think the flap is part of the CCS2 design. Here in Europe we have Tesla's with the CCS2 charging port and they don't have that flap.
What we see here is a classic case of if something can go wrong it will go wrong. An engineer came up with this design and thought of a mechanism that closes the flap again when you take out the chargecable. What he did not take into account is that sometimes you come to the realization, after opening the flap, that the cable is too short. You go into your car again to reposition it and never think of closing that flap yourself. Wy would you, you need to hookup after you have repositioned, in the meantime the automatic door closes again...
The real error in this design is that flap and chargedoor can hit each other at all.
