this is an anti-EV hit piece - they are cherry picking some facts out of context to make it look worse than it is.

To be fair, however, this won’t be how most Hummer owners will be charging their vehicle. Level 2 chargers are upgraded home stations which deliver a significantly higher amount of electricity than your regular home circuit would be able to deliver — but they require special equipment and installation.

It’s like trying to fill up an ICE car’s tank with a pipette and then blaming the car because it takes too long…

Walking to work takes longer than driving. More at 11.

This reminds me of the meme where the claim was that EV charging costs $19.20/hr (DC fast charge $0.32 per minute) for 8 hours (L2 home charge time) totaling $153.60.

On the other hand, we do charge our Model X with a 15amp 110v outlet in our car port just fine.
On longer road trips, we stop at a super charger. But the 40-50 miles we drive on an average day in the 'burbs can easily be done on a 110V.

(The Taycan gets the garage spot with the L2 :) )

Auto “journalist” can’t even mention the amperage of his level 2 charger. Granted a lot of auto journalists are clueless about this stuff, but they definitely know better at TFL.

The car charges at 19 kW on AC. If you’re getting an EV hummer and plan on driving 300 miles every single day, just pony up a few extra bucks for a 80-100 amp charger.

that so weird my DC fast charging doesn’t take home charging amounts of time to finish and I never get billed for more than 30 minutes …
