Is it worth getting the full leather pack?

I configured my interior with sport seats (18 positions) and black leather pack. I can not understand (and maybe other users can help) if the full leather pack (2k€ more) is worth or not. Any idea?

It will “only” add leather in a couple areas - center console and the top of the doors.

On the + side, the leather on the top of the doors will line up nicely with the leather on the dashboard (especially the stitching). Will look more premium.

In my humble opinion, unless you intend to really customize the accents/stitching in the upholstery, not worth the $2k.

It’s a lot of money extra, but I explicitly chose it because of the stitching and the premium look and feel. I had it once in a previous Macan in beige and black. The contrasting stitches in beige on the black leather were right in my sight, every time I sat in the car and were a joy to look at. And I have to admit, I often looked at it.

In my Taycan I also chose the full leather, although there is no different color of the stitching. In the Macan there is, so for me worth the extra money. Considering the easy entry of this higher car, I expect to drive it much longer than the 3 years in my Taycan so that’s an extra reason to go for it.

I ran my hands over the surfaces on a Taycan with the full leather and a near identical one which had the standard leather package. That was the best way for me to determine whether it is worth it.

I did opt for full leather in black, my issue is the dash without it just doesn’t look premium enough for a 100k car. I do intend keeping the car 10 years though to get my monies worth!!

10 years with the Macan EV, I admire that goal: hope you're able to and the car ages beautifully!
I can't imagine what EV tech will be like 5 years from now, let alone 10.

@tmrqs I got my first EV (Tesla M3LR) in 2021 and put 90000 km on it in 3 years. Lost 5% (4,7%) of the range. New Tesla M3 Highland LR has a new design, suspensions BUT same batteries and same motors. Maybe with more brands embracing the EV world will go faster but I don’t think there will be drastic changes (at reasonable prices) in the next 10 years… I planned to keep the Macan for at least 6 years too!

The news I've been reading lately about changes in chemistry and being able to charge significantly faster make me think a lot will change "soon".

To your point, 10 years ago, it was essentially Tesla and that was it. Now there are so many different actors (with China/Korea pushing hard), that I anticipate an acceleration of the capabilities.

Does not mean the Macan EV won't work anymore 5-7-10 years from now.
But I expect things will be different. Time will tell. 😄

Exactly but I have to say that it’s been 3 years that I keep reading “new batteries on MY” and it didn’t happen (and it was late 2021) new batteries on new MS or MX (and it was 2023) and never happened. So, if Tesla stays with what works today maybe the future it’s not so near. But, if there will be big improvements I’ll be more than happy to evaluate them (I’m a nerd in the end 🤣🤣🤣)

Yeah but Tesla, they promise a lot and their timelines are always extremely optimistic. 😅

I'm really thinking the changes will come from Asia first, look at these for instance:
- BYD, CATL Working On LFP Batteries That Could Be Fully Recharged In 10 Minutes
- CATL’s Latest LFP Battery Can Gain 370 Miles Of Range In 10 Minutes Of Charging

Mass adoption of EV is still hindered by range anxiety (and not wanting to wait 30 minutes to charge) as well as cost to buy the cars.
For the range, it's a non issue in most cases but people need the reassurance about this. And costs should go down as the competition continues to increase.

All that leads me to think the EV world will be quite different in 5 years... and the nerd I also am hopes for new tech fast. 🙃

I don’t think so, grey or black on black but I’m not 100% sure. However, there’s an option that costs € 3.400 but then you also have stitching on the chairs 😳😂
Yes I saw it and then it’s a no no. 7k€ to have what I had standard on my Stelvio QV is not an option 😉. I think I’ll stay with the “regular” black leather pack.

The other option I’m still evaluating is the Tex-race celing and steering wheel. Any previous experience from you Porsche owners? Keep in mind my all day use of the car for 3000/4000 km each month 😉
