Am comparing the prices across countries and wanted to share the exorbitant price here in Singapore. A Macan 4 EV is currently selling at USD280k , with USD100k going to a certificate to own the vehicle. This certificate has a lifespan of 10 years where one must bid for again at the end of the term , if to continue owning the vehicle. The record bid was USD130k in 2024 and the lowest was a dollar in one freak year some decades ago. Some very lucky dudes.

This regulates traffic in a small city state like Singapore, with the authorities targeting at zero car growth to better manage traffic. In any case, car prices are relatively high here, thus ownership and specs are considered thoroughly before buying a car. Adding to this , the authorities recently introduced a luxury car tax which applies to cars like Porsche and thus the price quoted here. As an example of how much it can affect luxury car prices, any new Rolls Royce will easily cost USD 1 million.

Almost every car owners in Singapore take up car loan for the entirety of ownership.

Owning a car, especially a luxury one, has always been very costly in Singapore. I feel for you... but you live in a beautiful country, so there's that. :)

Wow I was thinking that owning a sport/luxury car in Italy was very expensive but I can see that we are in good company ;-)

definitely much more here as it’s only for 10 years…. we are talking a usd25k depreciation per annum for this model.

Can you not just buy in Malaysia and drive it over?
It will end up the same cost or more , plus the requirements to be an importer and all the tax processes. It is different from buying regular products overseas as apparently the government will ensure all avenues are restricted to achieve its final objective.

What you've described is the "cost of owning a Macan in Singapore". It's not the price. Government imposed taxes are not going to Porsche.

May seem pedantic but there's a difference.

Thanks for the clarification. That is correct , it’s the total price after adding these few elements, just a note on the usd130k it is not a tax but rather a certificate of entitlement.

In the same vein are the imposed taxes, tariffs , freight. They sure don’t go to the seller but forms part of the selling price. When you buy your Porsche in your country you don’t remove these and declare the car is actually cheaper than it seem. That, would probably be referring to ex-works prices from the factory.
