I'm going to give Porsche a "pass" if I encounter any plug&charge problems - I never had this feature with my 2020 Taycan (was not an option) and I Know how to start charging sessions with app's or via the stall and Point-of-sale credit card reader - I'll be happy if it works - and I'll try and make it work - but I"m not going to "harp" on it not working - I will report charging results and how the session was started…
See if you can activate the charging subscription earlier. With my Taycan, Porsche online portal let me activate when my car was on the boat to Jacksonville, Florida (probably same port for you). Can't be sure if that did anything, but PnC worked 2 hrs after picking up the car, and every one of the ~30 EA chargers I visited in the following 9 days on my way home from the dealer. I was willing to lose a month of free charging to give EA databases time to propagate my car's subscription, however as an added bonus, Porsche adjusted (without me prompting them whatsoever) the start of my subscription to the pick up date so I didn't even lose that month of charging.

confirmed for November 15th - so we're doing this!!

not sure what I'm thinking - but what the heck!
No better way to get to know a car. As you know, I did a 3,500 mile trip home with the Taycan, zero regrets, and would do it again. If you buy a car with the intent to drive it (which I know you do), I highly recommend it. YOLO!

online web/portal can now do nothing - all functions moved to the Porsche app

car is already "in" my app and I've activated everything I can - but plug/charge isn't "accessable" in any of the available Porsche Connect services - and I have limited access to anything because I don't have physical access to the vehicle yet…

I had a similar message about not being able to control the cars functions until I get physical access, but the Porsche Connect Store allowed me to activate the subscriptions, such as the Connect and the charging one. Possibly they closed this loophole(?)

if you haven't logged in recently to the webportal you're in for a rude shock - it's barren now - only Porsche Financial services (PFS) are there now - and Porsche Connect - NOTHING else is on the web it _ALL_ in the app's now…no choice.

@daveo4EV , try to check in the App under Account -> Charging service. I see this on mine:
Electric Macan EV [Trip Report] - I'm peddling as fast as I can to generate electrons… PEC ATL to Santa Cruz in a Macan EV Turbo? 1731223424681-p2

The link to manage subscription takes me to mycharging.porsche.com. Maybe it will work for you if:
  1. you are logged into porsche.com
  2. You insert your VIN number into the following URL:
    https://mycharging.porsche.com/m/US/en-US/YOUR_VIN_HERE/manage

this worked - and it appears the charging service "activated" and all ready - it will expire on Oct. 15, 2025 (after things settle I'll call Porsche customer service and get them to add the extra month back since I can't get the car until Nov. 15th)

so the "raw" URL still works and my charging service is "active" has all the right bits/bobs and a credit card associated…

so cross the fingers - and we'll see

interesting if you use the "back" button the web page you will eventually get to the following splash screen…they really really don't want you using hte webportal any more…

thanks @whitex and the "rawURL" hack I was also able to retrieve my Windowsticker - it's been so long since I ordered it that I'd mostly knew what I got, but was never sure it was 100% correct in Porsche's build system - I knew the major stuff was there, but some of the smaller details I had doubts and such - but the build is just as intended…

see for yourself below…

What URL did you use for the window sticker?

one you get into the "management portal" via the "raw url" noted above - you can still navigate around and one of the "services" listed on the site is "download the window sticker"…follow @whitex instructions, and then get "out" of the charging mgmt portal and you should get to the top level "services" portal and window sticker is one of the choices.

I followed his steps and was able to activate charging as well (woot!) but didn’t see anything for the window sticker.

I’ll keep looking, thanks!

step by step

1. use the "raw" URL as noted
2. on the "charging services" screen click "Back to My Porsche"
3. that should get you to the "warning" screen we don't want you to use the portal use the "app" - click "continue" on that screen - see post #22 on this thread for what that looks like
4. you will now be at the top level menu and window sticker download is a choice - see pic below

NOTE: the window sticker is _NOT_ available until the car has been released from the Port - because it contains Port Information dealer and destination information - my sticker for example was generated on October. 28th because that meta-data is at the top of the PDF (along with the user name who printed the PDF from the Porsche IT system LOL) - the window sticker "panel" is not present if your car is not yet "released" from the port (or still in transit to country, being manufactured, or not yet started manufacturing).

That explains it @daveo4EV - my car is still in transit to the port in the US so I guess the sticker isn’t available yet.
I had gotten to the same screen as you but no option to get the sticker. No biggie, just a few more days!

simplifying assumption: 50% is where Macan EV's taper curve drops below 150 kW - exactness doens't matter here since it's a "curve" and below is a simplfied model that mirrors "real world" observed behaviors without the need to be 100% precise…read on if you dare.

question: how much of the battery can charge at 270 kW?

answer:
  • 95 kWh "usable" in Macan
  • assumption: start charging at 8% on a road trip…most people will start even higher.
  • assumption: charging is reduced to 150 kW (or less) at 50% (is this 100% accurate - maybe maybe not - but it's close enough to make the point)
  • kWh's subject to "faster" charge rate: well thats 50% - 8% - or 42% of the capacity
  • 42% of the capacity of 95 kWh is: 39.9 - lets call it 40 kWh

how long does it take to deliver 40 kWh @ 270 kW?
answer: 40 kWh @ 270 kW takes 8m 24 seconds - call it 8 1/2 minutes
how long does it take to deliver 40 kWh @ 150 kW?
answer: 40 kwh @ 150 kW takes 16 minutes

the "benefit" of charging at 270 kW vs. 150 kW is therefore the difference for the first 42% of the charging curve - of 16 minutes vs. 8.5 minutes - net benefit is 7.5 minutes

the charge time from 50% battery to 90% battery is the same at a 350 kW stall and a 150 kW stall since for that portion of the charging session the maximum charge rate is limited by the battery's taper curve and is at/below 150 kW from 50% to 90%

NOTE: in the real world w/North American EA stations - most of the 150 kW stalls actually do 175 kW in my experience so the math is actually…
how long does it take to deliver 40 kWh @ 175 kW?
answer: 40 kWh @ 175 kW takes 13 m 45 seconds - so the net benefit with a typical EA 150 kW stations is 13 3/4 - 8 1/2 = which is a net improvement of 5 1/4 minutes…

when I stop Im' stopping for at least 30 minutes, unplugging at 31 minutes (or later) and with my taycan that always meant I unplugged at 88-94% regardless of if I was using a 150 kW/350 kW stall…

the faster charging speed is only beneficial for less than 50% of the entire batteries capacity - so you only "win" for about 1/2 (or less) of the charging session - after that the charging speed is the same for both charging speeds.

math!
Interestingly, I found this on my account and Porsche seem to expect a larger difference in charging times between 150kw and 350kw. Marketing ploy or does the charging curve benefit from higher speeds for longer?

my "math" was based on my empirical experience from my 2020 Taycan Turbo and EA charging stations - the exact charging curve and taper points will change the math as one would expect.

I'm surprised by the 12 min difference - as that was not my experience with Taycan - I routinely got to more than 80% from 10% or below in 30 minutes since that was the included/free portion of the charging session…

10% to 80% is - 70% SOC - 70% of 95 kWh is 66.5 kWh

it will be interesting to see what the Macan's taper curve is for charging - I'd be surprised if it's really 12 minutes longer - but we'l have to see

my example above is easily manipulated with different "assumptions" but was meant to illustrate that often times 270 kW charger vs. 150 kW is not the dramatic difference most people assume it is - because there is the taper curve so you benefit from 270 kW for only a portion of your charging session…

I'm sure on this upcoming road trip I'll have real world data/experiences to share and I'll experience the Macan's taper curve first hand…and it will be reported here.
