A friend picked up his new 4 yesterday in Southern California. In finance, they offered pre-paid maintenance, which he decilned, but they told him although the 1st service won't be required for 2 years, the estimated cost will be $2,500.

That's really high compared to the 3 EVs we've had before. Have any of you in the US heard this too? Thanks

This does not align with the Porsche's own maintenance package pricing for Macan EV where they are selling it for $1,400. The downside is that if you buy it, you cannot save on items you can do yourself.

My advice is to shop around as dealers set their own hourly labor rates so no two dealers will quote the same. Then learn how to do things yourself: Cabin Filter, Wiper Blades, Remote Batteries, Tire Sealant etc. and tell the dealer not to do it. I can expand on the Tire Sealant if anyone interested.

Knowing how these dealers price service, if someone is planning on keeping the car for 5-7 years, it seems like the maintenance plan may be worth it. I doubt any service from Porsche will be under $1000, and I am probably off by alot, under.

I did t buy it, but wonder if I should.

Usually those service plan are a total ripoff. But that said, their service pricing will be way too high, so agree that anything you can do yourself is good to learn. The service issues aside from software related, will likely be cooling systems related...pumps, sensors, filters, leaks, etc. Lots of difficult-to-fix-yourself stuff.

None of the plans are ever worth it. They wouldn't sell them to you if they were.

The checklist is very short and outlined in the Maintenance Journal and yes only the dealer will be able to do it and reset the maintenance timer, but there are no sensors and pumps there. The point is to shop around and get the lowest labor rate to get that checklist completed plus brake fluid flush. The rest is do it yourself easy: Cabin Filter ($20 + 15 min of time vs. $250 by dealer), Wiper Blades, Remote Battery. Tires and Alignment are separate and high cost parts and labor.

If you actually plan to use the dealer for service, then there probably is some value to them (or at least one better confirm they are getting a discount off the future value of each service). The problem is in the human factor after you’ve bought the service plan…. Moving out of the area, selling the vehicle, forgetting you have the plan. The dealer makes them sound like a
No brainer, but I agree best to put your money in a car maintenance fund and pay when you need it.

If only we could believe half of what car sales people (and that goes double for finance) say. Sigh.

Is the first maintenance on the 4 not free like other Porsche's?
Macan ICE has first 10k/1 year service included and listed in the Standard Equipment.
Macan EV first service interval is 20k/2 years and NOT included, so it is not FREE.

My dealer has a good joke for EV customers. You buy it, we include oil changes free for life.
