A lot of the early destination chargers were either heavily subsidized or "free", with the cost of the EVSE and install covered by Tesla, but they had a requirement that they be dedicated to Tesla vehicles. It could be that you were trying to charge at one of those.

Try using the Tesla app instead of the Porsche app?

desitination chargers are not app based - they are just normal residential charger that you plug in - no account required/necessary or supported

if plugging it in doesn't work - then there is nothing else to do.

I use a Lectron adapter with Tesla wall charger at home (same as destination charger) and it works fine.

To add some direct experience, I have a Tesla Gen 2 wall charger. A couple of months back I hired a Polestar EV and tried to charge it on my charger and it wouldn't charge. At the time, I assumed it was the car as I didn't have time to troubleshoot it.

Turns out my new Macan didn't like charging from it either so I did more digging. It seems that the Gen 2 wall chargers are indeed only set up to charge Teslas (not sure if the Tesla to J1772 EV adapters you use in the US changes that or not??). So I replaced my Gen 2 with a Gen 3 (because my local hardware store stocks them, they are a lot cheaper than alternatives and one day hopefully they'll integrate it with Powerwalls) and hey presto, it now charges the Macan just fine :D

In case this helps anyone, I ran into this issue or a similar one today. Plug into a gen 3 Tesla universal destination charger, get flashing blue light, eventually Porsche throws a “charging not possible” error.

The fix was a bit over complicated and totally not intuitive.

I thought maybe I would be able to activate them through the Tesla app, but the chargers don’t show up on their network - presumably since they are operated privately.

What I needed to do instead was 1) log into Tesla app, 2) go to options, select “charge other EV”, 3) set up billing and payment method 4) plug in using the Tesla attached j1772 adapter 5) still in the app “charge other EV” section, there is a “scan QR code” button. Use this to scan the small code etched on the chassis of the destination charger. 6) success ensues.
