Does the U.S. tow hitch option include a standard 4-pin trailer light connector and wiring harness under the square plate with the 4 torque screws next to the 2” hitch (see attached photo)?

If so, any recommendations on an easily removable connector cover that would fit the Macan EV? I’m not sure if the one in the link below would be appropriate or if there is some type of flip cover available.

I was curious, also, so I removed the cover and found it loosely connected and covering to what appeared to be the plug. If the plug can be separate from the cover, then the plug would be loose and not attached. I'd like to know the answer, also, though my use of the hitch if mainly for bikes, but may use a hitch extender for kayaks and a sailboat which get carried inside a similar sized Volvo XC40.

I just took a look under my car to get an idea of what's needed to install the Pollak I just ordered from Amazon. It seems my dealer has already done this before delivery!

That's $20 with tax saved, and also having to find the correct bit to unscrew the plate.

Yeah mine has an Pollak adapter installed too. I wonder if some dealers are forgetting to install the kit, or the factory missed a step.. Or its just some dealers doing us a favor.

I got defective trailer light warnings when plugging in Curt auxiliary trailer lights into the Pollak adapter (suggested above) together with a Pollak 7 to 4 pin adapter. When I used an LED tester on the 7-pin socket, it also failed to test positive for the brake and turn signal lights.

I plan to purchase different adapters from Curt and Tow Ready which are LED trailer compatible for European vehicles which have lamp-out sensors to see if that solves the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Curt 7 to 4 pin adapter worked for me as well.

Here are links to the two adapters needed for those that didn’t get a Pollak covered 7-pin plug on delivery and only have a plate covering the trailer light port:

After you install the part referenced above, you'll need one of these to convert from the 7-pin Euro connection to the 4-pin US connection...

Different models, for someone like me who doesn’t know anything about this, what’s the difference between them? What’s the most basic/cheap option to simply disable the warnings when going in reverse with a bike rack?

The Curt 57004 and C35FR is the same model and is needed if you plan to connect any lights which have a 4-pin (or 5-pin) connector since the Porsche has a 7-pin socket.

I would recommend this adapter instead of the Pollak 12-716 4-pin adapter mentioned above since it is not “LED compatible” and does not have the lamp-out bypass feature of the Curt adapter which avoided the defective trailer light warnings I got when connecting auxiliary lights.

Ultimately I may not use the auxiliary lights (such as the Curt 53201 LEDs) however inserting this adapter appears to disable obstruction warnings from the backup camera when a bike rack is attached. I’ll test this feature again when I reattach the bike rack.

You need to have the referenced Pollak OEM style 7 blade adapter installed in the Macan, if not already there.

Then the $21 Curt C35FR seems to work fine, just plug it in and done., Many Audi and VW owners have used it for obstruction warning and for lights out warnings with LED trailers, a few have used it in Porsches.

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Wiring/CURT/C35FR.html

Apparently C35FR is the newer part number "57004 Curt 7-Way to 4-Way and 5-Flat Trailer Adapter for VW, Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz Towing Trailers with LED Lights"

"Simplify your towing experience with the versatile 7-Way to 4-Way/5-Way Trailer Adapter. Whether you drive a Porsche Cayenne or a BMW X5, this adapter connects effortlessly to your trailer's LED lights. It’s specially built for vehicles with a factory tow package, solving the low power draw issues that typically trigger bulb-out sensors. Just plug it in and you're good to go — no complex wiring required."

These adapters have resistors in them that load down the light circuits which the Macan interprets as a trailer being attached.

I installed the Pollak 11-893P RV 7-Way Socket (Oem Style) no problem.

Simply connected the CURT 57004, then installed my bike rack in the receiver and put the car in reverse: beeping like nothing was plugged.

I then tried with the POLLAK (12716 7-Way to 4-Way Adapter instead and same result: beeping like crazy.

Has anyone here successfully gotten the beeping to stop when a bike rack is installed in the back, using either one of these? Anything I need to do in the PCM?

Thanks!
