My experience with hand gestures on cars is they are all a bit hit and miss. Maybe just my experience. I tend to go to the key rather than bother.
No door problems. Was not expecting soft close since it was not on the spec and my doors seem to close well. Maybe needs some tweaking at the dealer.
Rattles. - Not acceptable and I do think the dealer should address rattles. Others have had them fixed.
My rocker seems fine, maybe I just have adjusted to the pressure needed to engage
Hi to all.

Greatly appreciate the Macan EV Communityā€˜s (irrespective of which model) posts. I read them all as I find them very informative versus trying to read the manual šŸ˜‰ as effectively Porsche wanted to launch the Macan EV after learning from the their 1st EV…. Thank you all for sharing and educating members like me!

I was among those who naively awaited the ā€œlong test period of >1 year of debugging the Taycan EV thinking that the Brand’s decision to start ā€œcommercial launchā€ was based on convincing conclusions. So, I naively placed my order in with other ā€œfortunateā€ brand loyalists who wished to be in the first week(s) of official production for the US market. šŸ¤£šŸ˜…šŸ˜³šŸ˜¢šŸ¤ØšŸ„¹

😱 Naive of me. Not maliciously, am sure, but effectively, I ended up being a ā€œLive Beta Testing volunteerā€.

Sadly, like many (not all thankfully) I experienced shocking glitches starting with the 12v Battery’s lack of feed off the main battery which may be virtually ā€œfully chargedā€, plus a gremlin that wiped out all my codes and we had to break into my car as the standard feature of the key off the vin number plate in the windshield couldn’t unlock the car due to dead 12v plus codes wiped out.

That said, following 1st flat bed to the dealershi, 3 of the total 4 trips to the dealer I drove the car to the dealer. Following 30+ days of Porsche loaners, my car seems to be operating properly šŸ™ƒšŸ˜…šŸ˜‰.

As we hoped and know, when it’s working it’s amazing. My mileage is terrific between suburban, city (NYC) rush hour, and highway speed long distance commutes of over 130 mile stretches, including very very cold winter weather we’ve experienced in the NE USA.

Most of our Macan EV cars are made by Porsche in Slovakia, not in either of the main German facilities we’ve learned to love for how our ICE Porsches re flawlessly assembled otherwise.

Whilst I’m not experiencing any of the rattles amply noted in this thread, nor the park vs drive lack of parking my car (*), I share the spotty functionality of the back trunk opening when standing arms full of things and keys in pocket, hoping it’ll open.

While I’d love it to always work, I’ll take this vs inability to unlock and enter my care 1,000% of the time.

I join those who recommend Dealer drop offs under warranty to repair the squeaks. Those are unacceptable quality faults for the Porsche brand.

Where they chose to build the cars it’s their choice. However, the seamless and consistent build quality standard for a Porsche is nonnegotiable!

Fingers crossed all our cars unlock and we can turn on everything and drive to our desired destination as/when we wish or need to! šŸ˜Ž

Hi all… been driving my turbo since October. I have some gripes… thought I’d share to see if there are any similar experiences.
  1. Swipe to open frunk feature is hit or miss. Often requires multiple swipes and prayers.
  2. Pressing the main volume control button does not ā€œpauseā€ media playing via CarPlay but simply mutes the speakers
  3. Doors are not ā€œsoft closeā€ā€¦ require a bit of a forceful push for them to close. I often find myself having to do it again.
  4. Rattles… sunroof makes noise when going over rough roads. Also beginning to hear a sound from either under drivers seat or the passenger seat/door behind the driver
  5. The park/drive rocker is a bit too stiff… its happened multiple times that I thought it was in park, but it was still in drive
Curious to hear if others share any of these gripes. And if there are already known solutions to any of these.
Overall really liking the turbo, but these above items are coming between absolute unquestionable love and ā€œhey, it’s a great carā€ kind of vibe
I’m with you. Car way too expensive to hove
So many issues. I’ve also had massive electrical problems with car play and electrical system. We’ve got rattles on both sides of the car. Also handling is too soft at
Low speeds. Kind of a disappointment.

We aren’t having issues with the swipe though but I was taught to go fairly far under, further than was intuitive.

I think the unusual force needed to close doors is a common comment here. When I hop in the Mini or pickup and use the same force from muscle memory, those doors slam. My 100 pound skinny wife often needs three tries to close the door from the inside.

I've driven my 4s for two months 2400 miles and not a glitch or problem that is not learning curve related. Same as my previous 5 or 6 cars from other brands.

1-day into ownership and the doors just feel cheap compared to previous Macan. I think lack of upper door frame also prob doesn't help. Needing a lot of force to close, and rattles a bit when closed. LOL otherwise awesome awesome car.

For those who have experienced the lurching forward after you thought it had successfully engaged in park, did it ever do when after you visually confirmed that the blue light on your driver’s IP for the letter ā€œPā€ was lit?
My experience is no, the P on the dash is not lit. But an audible click from pushing the P button occurs and the touch feedback to your finger (pushing the button) is as-if the P button engaged normally to enter Park.

It seems to me to, most likely, be a problem with the actual P button itself in the car.

I've experienced the problem with "park not engaging after I think I've pushed the button". I'm up to a count of 2 or 3 times that the car has lurched forward after I thought it was in park and it was not in park.
I've tried to get in the habit of applying HOLD mode when parking to make sure I don't have this problem. Since this is a new car to me, I am still having to think about the use of these controls when exiting the car, so I've also been deliberate about checking the Park mode too, and have yet to see it not engage as expected.

While some parts are indeed made in Slovakia, as I witnessed on my factory tour in Leipzig, they are assembled on the same line, by the same people as their ICE brethren and Panamaras.

I get periodic console software glitches (getting rare) but they go away almost immediately. So far, I have no rattles. I have noticed the issue on Carplay where the sound is muted but it doesn't actually stop my audiobooks or music. So I stop it manually.
We have very rough roads in Westchester, NY (especially after winter) but so far no rattles over 4 months. The only knock is from the driver side seat belt which lots have noted. You definitely should take it back to the dealer since it shouldn't be rattling.
The Bose sound system is just awesome on the music that I do play from apple music.. The bass just rocks the car and the trebles are high and tight (Try Reign's version of Knocking on Heavens Door).
I've seen complaints about screen size periodically. I've never been a fan of massive ugly screens popping out of the dash - but that's just me. The camera's are just fine .. maybe slightly higher res. but I see the image and the menu's just fine and I'm in my early 70's.

The car is just a BLAST to drive and so responsive (this is my 3rd Porshe including a 911 C4S). Unlike so many Tesla owners, I am more than happy to actually drive this car as opposed to have it driven for me. Maybe after I hit my 80's and can't drive for some reason, I'll need something like FSD. I do like having ADAS is on long trips on the highway. Speaking of Tesla owners, I don't get this one pedal driving thing. Between coasting and the brakes, I get all the regen/efficiency I need and I have never minded moving my foot a few inches to hit the brake. I suppose it won't hurt to offer it but it certainly will not bother me either way.

I'll NEVER go back to an ICE car unless the moron makes it impossible to by another EV. I can see why EV's are taking over Chinese roads and why they decided to just move beyond ICE cars and not even try to compete on that front. There's no need to.

> Most of our Macan EV cars are made by Porsche in Slovakia

im pretty sure this is not true of the macan ev

ive only heard it about the upcoming cayenne EV

> I don't get this one pedal driving thing

i think it is the type of thing that is hard to imagine until you use for a while and then get used to it and then the other way seems to not make sense. But until you go full on using it, yeah, you won’t get it. And macan ev though I appreciate some regen they allow, it’s not really at all what you get with true one pedal.

> I'll NEVER go back to an ICE car unless the moron makes it impossible to by another EV.

agree!

instant torque is addictive and porache is nailing a lot of things with the macan ev that I can’t believe people are still buying the ICE model. Macan EV is so much crazy fun.

[Quote} Porsche celebrates the start of electromobility at its Leipzig factory

14/05/2024
Today, Tuesday 14 May, Porsche celebrated the official start of electromobility at its production site in Saxony. In recent years, the sports car manufacturer has invested around 600 million euros in expanding the factory in order to produce the electric Macan here.

Additions to the factory have included a new body assembly line. Production of the new Macan is currently being ramped up. The plant has been designed for maximum flexibility in the future, with petrol, hybrid and all-electric cars being made on a single production line.

I've been driving my Macan 4 since October as well and have no real complaints. Oh, I would like to customize the display more, and be able to use Tesla charging, but everything seems to work quite well for me. Regarding your gripes:

1. It took me a little practice, but now I can open the frunk every time the first time with one swipe.
2. If I want to pause the media playing via CarPlay, I just say "Hey Siri, pause" and it pauses for me.
3. I have no problem with the doors.
4. I haven't noticed any rattles.
5. The park/drive rocker is a bit stiff sometimes, but not enough to be bothersome or dangerous.

Mine has a lot of rattles as well from doors, center console and sunroof. Will schedule service shortly to see if they can be sorted. Sadly the most rattles of any new vehicle I’ve ever purchased.
Also have a lot of rattles from roof and doors. Roof was already adjusted once. It’s better but surprisingly noisy vehicle. My first German experience and not impressed coming from Lexus, Volvo, Tesla. Though better than my matchbox Rivian with rattles galore.

Sorry you got a ā€œrattlyā€ one, for listening to auto media video reviewer one after another, they were almost 100% in saying that the Macan is tight, rattle free.

Of course no brand has 100% of their cars rattle free. Had two rattles in our new Toyota that drove me crazy until I finally chased them down (gave up on the dealer trying to fix either one after several failed visits).

I hope and/or your dealer find and fix every last one you now have.

Re above ā€œ The park/drive rocker is a bit too stiff… its happened multiple times that I thought it was in park, but it was still in drive,ā€ I always check the driver’s IP to see the ā€œPā€ lit up in blue to double check, now my habitual last glance.
I have this same gripe too.
