I was able to determine what ship my car was loaded on and track it that way. There are a number of ways to do this based which RORO ship left the port of Emden on the date your car left that port.
Since TYD was not available for the Macan last year, I used the MarineTraffic app and determined ships leaving port on the same day. I knew where the car was with the exception of when it was mid Atlantic without using GPS, but the app also sold more precise information. When the ship gets closer to any port MarineTraffic is also very accurate without an up charge.
BTW: Your SA should have more details about expected arrival and probably the ship. MarineTraffic is in this business so it should be more dependable. Be aware there may be intermediate stops. In my case the ship stopped at a Canadian port for a few days prior to arriving at Sparrows Point where Northeastern and Midwestern cars are unloaded.
My recent experience with the app is that ship tracking, once it leaves port is eye candy. It showed an estimated path from Europe directly to the US port but did not show any stop overs, for example. So its not that precise. You need to use the other methods posted here to actually track the ship more precisely but the free versions do lose the carriers over the Atlantic.
