For those of you that spec'd the laminated glass option, do you experience significant cell signal attenuation while using your cell (mobile) phone? Or have a passenger complain about reception?

I'll be ordering a Macan 4 soon, but will skip this $980 option (North America, 2026) if there are problems.

As I understand it, there should be NO or MINIMAL interference due to the laminated glass. When the phone is paired to the car, the phone is using the car's Bluetooth and/or WiFi system to send the signals to the cars antenna array (shark fin on many cars). Passengers may have problems because their signals are emanating from inside the car, and could be blocked by the laminated glass.

I have the laminated glass and don't notice any cell signal degradation, I usually show full bars from AT&T Wireless. I'm the only driver of the car and my phone is connected using wireless CarPlay. I've not had any complaints from passengers either.

I have noticed degradation of the signal from the remote for the garage gates at our building. The range at which the remote works is definitely less, but I would never give up the improved sound and heat rejection for better range from the remote.

Great information, thank you! I hadn’t considered the laminated glass impacts on the Homelink system (garage door).

A little over a month in with my MY26 Turbo and no degradation of signal. The ride is also noticeably quiet even with 22” wheels.

HomeLink shouldn't be a problem at all since the car has HomeLink integration with its own antennas.
You are correct. Separate independent garage door transmitters would be affected.

I have one Macan with the glass upgrade and one without (albeit with after market tint). No difference in receptivity. The tinted glass doesn’t attenuate sound, and heat still will enter via the front windshield (unless tinted too; mine isn’t). If you live in a sunny location as I do, or you value a quieter vehicle, the upgrade is worth it IMO.

Excellent information! And great suggestion about living in a sunny climate and benefiting from the laminated glass option. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so this will be a must have option for me.

That would truly make it a must have! It's hard to tell if cell reception is truly affected in some ways (my suspicion is that it is reduced 10-20% if you were sitting in the car turned off, but I don't know definitely how the antennae works with the internal wifi connection)

I can say without question it creates issues for passive parking and fast track type receivers (fobs etc.) Fast track is easy of course putting it up in the designated spot on the windshield - but I have to roll my window down to use the parking fob at my office, while I don't have to do that in loaner cars I have had without the glass.

Absolutely not a concern for me, I would order it 10 out of 10 times - but clearly it does block some signal.
