Has anyone experienced the Macan EV battery range reduction in weather temperatures freezing point and below? I am hearing some stories from Taycan owners of significant range reduction.

Definitely a thing and not a myth.

Taycan pre facelift had different battery chemistry to new model and Macan EV but all will experience range reduction - 20 - 30 miles or so. In warmer ambient climates you can expect more range.

air density increasing significantly with lower temperature.

Hi. Agreeing with replies sent to initial questions re cold weather mileage range variation.

To be clear, setting aside the most obvious impact to range no matter environmental temps, is driving style; during an EV like an ICE Porsche with a heavy accelerator vs like an charging station availability EV coasting and using regen braking, temps matter.

In summer my Macan 4 EV is getting average charge at 100% of 385miles and 2x 400-405(!?!?!)miles on trips I feathered throttle on purpose plus used regen braking to see how much I could get.

This last winter was my 1st with Macan EV and I’d get 305-330mis charge at 100%.

In fairness to we Porsche Fans, while awaiting Macan road testing 1.5 yrs plus 6mos from order of 1st week commercial product to delivery last fall, bought and drove a Ford Mustang Mach E All wheel premium with $6k (😂🤪😔😳😱) extended range battery. Put 29.5k trouble free miles on it (2 winters + 2summers). 100% charges with same driving styles yielded ~290 miles winters and 340miles summers.

When gremlin trouble Free the Macan EV 4 is a 🤩 dream to drive.

Happy travels to all 🍾🎉

My Macan 4 with 20" base wheels is garage-kept in central NH. Average winter temperatures are well below freezing. My typical driving is 75-80% rural roads (speed limits 30-55 mph) and 20-25% interstate (speed limit 65-70 mph) and I generally stay within 2 mph of the speed limit (4 mph indicated). The garage is kept around 45 degrees F during the winter. I drive the car 20 - 50 miles on a typical day. My tire pressures are typically 44 lbs all around, all year.

With my driving pretty consistent throughout the year, I figure comparing the efficiency during different seasons gives a good sense of the effect of temperature. I keep the climate at a comfortable setting, using heated seats, heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, heat and a/c as needed. When I remember, which is rarely, I do shut off the rear climate on longer trips. I almost always drive in Normal mode and I drive gently, so I would say most of the time the front motor is not energized (confirmed by the graphic in the PCM from time to time).

All that said, looking at the car's history: in January and February, my efficiency ranged typically 2.7 to 3.2 miles per kwh. The last few weeks, my efficiency has been ranging 3.7 to 4.2 miles per kwh. That's a very significant difference. Whether it's related to climate control, air density, battery efficiency with temperature change (well, no doubt, all of those things...) I can't say for sure, but it's a real world result.
