Have found that the emergency stop is unreliable. Doing 70mph on an empty highway it absolutely slammed on the brakes for 2s thinking there was a need for an emergency stop while there was nothing around.

I've since disabled the feature in the settings, but it seems to be coming on with each start of the car. Know if this is expected? Or if there is a better way around it than disabling on each start?

It is a legislated required feature in most countries, and will likely soon be in the US as well. (Currently in the US, it's a voluntary target of 99% of vehicles.)
Thus, it's unlikely they built the feature to be fully defeatable.

After you disable it try resetting your seat memory function for 1, 2, and 3. This should save it to off for all drivers. As stated below this does not work! I tried to disable reset then restart and it always defaults to on! šŸš™

I’ll be surprised if it can be permanently disabled as its law in the EU that the ā€˜driver aids’ must be on by default. I can’t see Porsche bothering to make exceptions to this by country although I may be wrong.

You can't disable a safety feature as the default behaviour nor is it part of a comfort settings so don't waste your time with that idea either.

Why disable it anyway?

Have you not visited the dealer regarding this matter? Obviously this isn’t something normal, so why don’t to address it as an issue? Disabling a safety issue isn’t the solution. You have warranty, take it to the dealer. It only takes once of forgetting to disable it and you’ll (god forbid) end in a collision.

Sure, that's a logical ask. The way I see it though...

- go to dealer (effort already with kids etc)
- best case get a loaner
- leave it with them for 2w
- they come back to me with 'couldn't find any faults', or
- 'we've let HQ in germany know', get your car, we'll let you know when they release a patch
- porsche totally suck at electronics and updates, can't see anyone disagreeing there
- best case they release a patch, in which I have to take it back and they spend a few days updating

So all in all glass half empty sure, but I'm sure as shit not going to waste my time trying to help porsche in an area they totally don't give a shit about or understand. If they made half decent investments in this domain then there wouldn't be as many bugs.

Because
1) in the US, it *would* be legal to disable the AEB, and
2) the Porsche Macan seems to suffer more phantom false positives than the previous three cars I compare it to (Volvo XC90, Polestar 2, Audi e-tron GT)

It's not bad enough I'd actually defeat it myself, but I can see how someone might want to, just like how someone might want to drive a stick shift.

AEB has been mandated in law (Europe wide) and all vehicles sold since May 2022 have the system fitted as standard. It therefore is a mature system by now. Mandatory in USA from September 2029.

Perhaps your issue is indicative of another fault and should not be left to chance.

That's not what the service people say. It's just hair trigger sensitive, way too early in advance.
The e-tron GT had a setting for cautious/normal/aggressive, and I was OK with the "aggressive" setting; this one behaves very much like the "cautious" setting, and there's no way to change the setting.

Aren't the settings here - controlled by distance - excerpt
from the manual (read the entire section as the setup is quite extensive).

Settings are Off,, Early, Medium and Late.

I think that is for the yellow exclamation mark triangle when following too close?
