I can’t get interested in the gimmicky e-shift while people keep reporting bricked cars due to mysterious software issues. I want quality, reliability, more range. MY28 better pull a magic rabbit out of Porsche’s hat. The bmw i3 has 250km more range than a macan gts for almost a third of the price. Does the Porsche drive better? Sure. Would I buy one over the i3. No!
I guess it depends on what you want from the car.

To me the extra range is completely irrelevant. I rarely need the range available from a full charge, but I enjoy the driving dynamics every time I'm in the car.

Would I welcome extra range? Sure. Would I give up the driving experience for it? Absolutely not.

But I get that some people need more range than what the current Macans provide. I have a good friend who had a Tesla Model X, and while he loved the car he got extremely frustrated with its relatively slow charging. He drove hundreds of miles per day for sales visits and got tired of spending 30 to 45 minutes to charge the car enough for the trip home or to the next customer. He actually went back to an ICE vehicle that he can fill up in five minutes.

I don't think the e-shift will make it into the 27 Macan. Porsche said that they developed it to be in sync with the 2 gear box of the Taycan. The Macan only has 1 gear and I can't imagine that they'll easily adapt it. Besides this, fixing bugs should be more important.

Why not? For the Taycan, Porsche didn’t time this with a facelift as far as I know…
Taycan sales have tanked = hit rock bottom because of poor reliability/efficiency/software/residuals (eye watering depreciation).
Taycan already looked great and handled/went well so they focused on the efficiency aspect for it's 4/5 year facelift.
They changed the motors & batteries so efficiency was improved compared to the pre-fl.
But with an old platform (non-SDV) and VAG inability to produce software that works and does not look like android kodi from 2012, terrible reliability record/residuals still fresh in the minds of new buyers, facelift a step backwards in terms of looks IMO, and increased competition from china, korea, europe and even germany (bmw/merc) in regards to with what can be done with an EV, Taycan could not be saved.
So instead of scrapping it they thought about adding couple of lines of software and hey presto new press release 2027 Taycans now offering a more intensified / emotional / reinterpreted / multi-sensory / emotive / intuitive / customizable / interactive / authentic / dynamic / yada / yada driving experience.

Somehow I think this would be a hard sell to socker moms in their Macans (parting with 1K for fake gears/sounds).

Well there is this post on reddit with iX3 stats on highway and honestly it's world apart.
Over 102km/h on avg during long 400km highway trip and 18,6 kWh is truly excellent.

I just don't get these ICE-emulating gimmicks on EV cars. Make it the best EV car you can, don't try to make an EV system feel or sound like an ice system. I wouldn't ever touch that dodge EV just for its speakers creating V8 sounds...... Yes, I do like the sound of my M3, but that does not mean that I want an EV sounding like an ICE M3.
