After over 9 months of anticipation and a truly unforgettable vehicle collection experience, the moment had finally arrived: my first drive in the Macan EV Turbo. And it wasn’t just any drive—it was a 1052km journey packed into just two days.

The challenge was far from small:
• My very first experience with an electric car
• Freezing temperatures ranging from -2°C to 4°C
• Regeneration mode disabled
• A brand-new battery still far from peak performance


THE CAR

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s one of mine. But let me warn you: no photo or video can truly capture the beauty of this frozen blue finish. It’s a bold choice, I know, but it has far exceeded my (already high) expectations. Simply put, it’s spectacular.

DRIVING IMPRESSIONS

I never thought I’d say this, but driving the Macan Turbo is incredibly relaxing. The stability, security, and confidence it delivers are unparalleled—likely a combination of its suspension and advanced electronics. But let’s not forget the silence.

Initially, I had opted for double-glazed windows, but like many here, I had to cancel that feature. Even so, the cabin is astonishingly quiet. The overall comfort is just as impressive. With 22-inch wheels, I had tempered my expectations, but the ride is smooth, road noise is minimal, and comfort levels are excellent.

And the power? OMG. Want a calm, progressive drive? You’ve got it. Want aggressive, thrilling performance? That’s there too. The choice is entirely yours!


ISSUES

Three notable hiccups during the trip:
1. Cruise control glitch: The system kept insisting my seatbelt wasn’t fastened, even though it was. As a consequence cruise control was not possible to be activatedA quick restart fixed the issue.
2. Augmented reality HUD freeze: At one point, a blue navigation arrow froze in place. Restarting the HUD didn’t help, but a full vehicle reboot resolved it.
3. Apple CarPlay call controls: I couldn’t hang up or answer calls using the steering wheel controls. This might require further troubleshooting, but it didn’t work a single time for me.


ENERGY CONSUMPTION

I know from this forum that initial energy consumption figures are typically higher than what you’ll see over time. I really hope that’s the case here, because even at reasonable speeds, I was seeing figures over 30kWh/100km… ?

CONCLUSION

Porsche knows how to build an exceptional car—and then there’s the software. ?

While this version is leagues ahead of previous iterations, it still falls short in terms of stability. I’d also love to see more openness for third-party apps. With such incredible displays, not being able to stream Netflix feels like a missed opportunity.

my 2 week turbo is giving me an average of 2.7 miles / kWh… or to use your Measure, 36.7 kWh/100miles. Not great at all. I hope that improves!

I’ve only done 459 mikes (738 km) so far though!

Great review and glad you’re enjoying your Macan even with the glitches. No HUD issues for me after 3700 km (2300 mi).

Only glitches for me were charging related 1) to recognize my vehicle at a plug and charge station 2) one at home related to “precool / heat”. Successes for both situations since.

I have been driving km 10,000+ in my Macan Turbo. I like it very much! I had hoped for longer range, but also have to say I drive my Macan Turbo just as my old BMW diesel.

I think we can categorize this as a beginning feature. I had the same issue driving away from the dealer at pick up. The following drive it worked and in 11.000km has never failed again.

So that's 21.4 kWh/100km. I'd take that all day long in winter. For comparison, I drove 1,600km from Holland to Leeds and back over Christmas in my Taycan GTS ST, and my average was 29.8 kWh/100km, which is 2.1 miles/kWh.

It's just a rough figure, but if you achieve 2.9 miles/kWh, and your battery has a useable capacity of 95 kWh, then you multiply 2.9 x 95, which equals 275.5 miles of range. It's a little more complicated than that, but it's a good estimate.
