Just curious if any current Macan EV owners previously owned a Tesla Model Y.
I have a Macan 4S ordered, and I currently drive a Tesla Model Y Performance. I’m curious about the similarities and differences between the two cars. Obviously build quality and driving dynamics will be superior with the Macan, but are there any other interesting things you found when transitioning from the Tesla to the Macan?

Specifically curious about:
• Bose sound system in Macan vs Tesla sound system
• Innodrive with Active Lane Keeping vs. Tesla autopilot / FSD
• Driving position differences
• Overall size and dimension differences
• Anything about the Model Y that you miss in the Macan

I used to drive Model 3 as my first car for few years and wanted to write a compression review for people who consider upgrading to Porsche. Here is a short summary:

You will miss:
- I don't but you might miss Autopilot even tho InnoDrive gets close, it will never be as close as autopilot as they don't have a goal to make a self driving car. We never got the real Autopilot in EU because of regulations.
- Driving position. You'll have less visibility but I compensate with the parking cameras and I have them on a shortcut cos our town is full of narrow streets but that's Europe. In US you might not care.
- The app. It doesn't get even close to Tesla's. It has the basics but no Sentry, Dog mode, etc.
- Phone as key. It doesn't have it...
- Might miss the unified experience with the centre display + app
- One pedal driving... The calibration they've done to the accelerator and brake pedal is incredible, but still. One pedal is the name of the game in the city.
- Turning signal camera preview.

What you will NOT miss:
- Shitty driving dynamics.
- Shitty, twitchy steering wheel feeling.
- Shitty suspension.
- Weird echo when you are by yourself.
- Not having a real dashboard.
- Not having physical buttons.
- Not having clear sound quality.
- Not having loud wind noise over 100km.

The car is generally superior to Model Y. It's unfair to Tesla as it's different class, but even if you compare it to X or S it will still win as a car.

I took a brief test drive of the Macan 4 EV today to see how it drives relative to my long range Tesla MY. As expected, the steering, cornering and braking felt much tighter on the Porsche. Of course, the interior quality/luxury of the Porsche is MUCH higher and I really liked the look of the digital dashboard.

On the other hand, I did miss one pedal driving/braking as well as the head-jerking instant acceleration of my Tesla from a full stop, although the 4 has solid acceleration from 10-60 mph. Hopefully the 4S I have on order will have more instant acceleration without needing to use launch control.

I've got 75k on a performance model 3, and we now have three weeks on a macan 4 ev (it's my wife's daily driver). tesla's software is much much better. easier to navigate the menus and everything is easy to find with only a little looking around; one good cohesive design. autopilot is really good for commuting and road trips. (full self-driving is annoying though, I never agree with its decisions). navigation works really well and integrates with my phone calendar and uses google maps data so constantly updates.

in comparison, the porsche software seems to have about a dozen silos in it; there are several sets of disconnected menus. so if you want to go update something, it's extremely difficult to find what you want. apple carplay is at least a consolation prize here.

so the tesla advantage is the software, the blistering acceleration, and autopilot.

frankly, the macan is so much better than the tesla in every other way, from the driving experience to the interior appointments, and even the difficult-to-navigate screens look better! I'm already planning on replacing my performance 3 with a taycan.

I forgot to add; we got the Bose stereo on the Macan (not the Burmester) and it sounds better than the tesla's. also phone calls are much clearer (in both directions) on the Macan.

While I do agree the menu structure is a bit cumbersome compared to Tesla, for the day today usage it doesn’t matter … the fact that you have a drivers display and HUD with all the info makes the software 10 times better than the Tesla in everyday use. Plus I use CarPlay for all the rest, which is not available on the Tesla. On the other hand the hands free is top, my colleague says it’s day and night compared to the Tesla and even better than the BMW iX …
What you would mis, space …
