Intermittent Connectivity Issues with Macan EV Turbo – Anyone Else Experiencing This?

Hello Macan EV owners,

I’ve had my Macan EV Turbo since November 2024. I have two iPhones connected to the car’s hotspot, and everything worked perfectly until March—e-mail, data transfer, internet access, WhatsApp, Deezer streaming, and CarPlay were all functioning without any issues.

Since March, however, the data transfer and internet connection have stopped working, despite the car showing a strong 4G signal and the phones being properly connected to the hotspot.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far, without success:
  • Locking the car, waiting, and unlocking again
  • Deleting and re-pairing both iPhones
  • Performing a soft reset of the PCM
  • Ensuring both iPhones are up to date
  • Confirming there’s no data usage limit or quota issue with Data Pass
Additional observations:
  • Occasionally, the internet connection is restored and works for 2–3 days before dropping again.
  • Radio playback experiences brief signal interruptions, even in areas with strong reception (downtown or on the motorway).
  • Streaming via Deezer or Tidal frequently stops abruptly.
  • Possibly related: the built-in navigation system no longer displays traffic congestion, while Google Maps via CarPlay correctly shows live traffic congestion on the same route.
  • Recently, I also had the experience of Innodrive and speed limit recognition being out of service for two days.
My dealer claims to have opened a PRMS ticket over 10 days ago, but I’m not optimistic about meaningful follow-up. Frankly, this is unacceptable for a vehicle priced at €160K.

I’m beginning to suspect a fault with the embedded SIM or perhaps a problem with the car’s antenna system—if such a system is involved.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had a couple of connection problems that didn’t resolve by resetting the PCM, unpairing the phone, or resetting the phone. Both times I called Porsche North America and sent the requested screenshots of the phone and car. They promised to get back to me within 48h but failed to do so. The first time I got a follow up email asking whether I still had the problem and requesting additional details. At the end, I did a factory reset of the vehicle and that fixed the problems.

After the last major update, a lot of things stopped working, for example, hot spot. Log out and do a factory reset. Log in again and you can set the settings again, they disappeared. After that, mine worked.

I had this issue recently. When connected to car play I was no longer getting a data connection. I did not do a factor reset but just deleted my phone connection (from both the device menu in pcm and also Bluetooth on my phone). Then I repaired my phone to the car. Connection and data now works as normal. You might want to try that first before doing the full factory reset on your car.

Have you recently updated, that's when it happened to me? Go into PCM, select Settings/ select System/ select Restore to factory settings. Once everything is up and running, you can log in to PCM again, you do this where your name or user is listed. You have to make settings again, some of them will unfortunately disappear.
