Very interested to know how you achieved that permanently!

in the US, we don't have the same regulation that requires the LKA to be turned on every time the vehicle starts up, so turning it off persists across drives

I just turned mine off completely. So much better without it. The system isn't perfect, one time the camera didn't read the lines correctly (because here in the US they repaint the lines for road work or bridge repair; the old lines aren't always erased and that was when the car got confused and I had to fight the steering wheel to not crash into the car next to me. )
To be clear, can LKA be turned off permanently (i.e. not having to do so everytime you jump back into the car) in North America?

We definitely did that!

Yes, we did! (although still trying to get used to the turning radius (we optioned for the rear axle steering)

Guys.. use your turn signal, we aren't driving BMW's here. 😂
but as we drive "sport" cars, we like to be very close to the lines; and the system is kicking us a bit too early ;-)

and to be honest, the detection system in my "old" (5 years) X5 was much better than the Porsche. speed limits recognition, detecting cars coming as "in direct front" while not, lanes that aren't really lanes (or when double, with works & regular) etc... I can understand people prefer to keep full control & I am part of the "old ones" who prefer to keep it that way rather than leaving it to the car. It reminds me a friend talking to be about its tesla M3. When it was about going D or R, he had to go to the touchscreen (!). And as people complained, rather than putting back a physical button, Tesla decided to let the car ... determines itself if the car has to go D or R, depending on the angle of the front wheels & camera detections ! (one more reason for me to never to Tesla)
