Which most people switch off on most journeys (after forgetting to do it at start-up) by prodding the screen trying to find the right menu …. while they’re driving! Some safety system!
This is required by your country. Porsche has zero control.

Maybe it’s better if you learn more your car since you can turn it off directly on the lower stalk… however never said it works great. It a EU requirement not Porsche. ALK works fine

I have now spoken with the salesperson again and apparently, cars in Australia aren't allowed to have Innodrive which makes no sense as so many other cars have this feature
Let's look at AU configurator to find the answer.

AU configurator clearly shows that Innodrive is not an option and since Porsche only packages ALK with Innodrive from factory, there is no ALK functionality available in the country for Macan EV.

Mine was more a general comment about the multiplicity of legally-compliant safety enhancements fulfilled by software on a control module. You can see them across many of the current generation of cars, with many of these features optionally suspended by manual overrides on screen menus. Not an elegant or sensible solution for our now over-regulated vehicles. I’ll be more than happy to use Porsche’s stalk-based approach for this when my Turbo arrives in March

I took delivery of my Turbo on Thursday and can confirm (much to my surprise and disappointment) that active lane keep assist is not on the car so this is indeed an option that Porsche Australia has withheld from our market for some reason :crying: Maybe Porsche Australia doesn't trust the safety of HQ's technology?? It's hard to think of another rational explanation.

The use of highly variable marketing terms across manufactures for the same thing, more than one system with 'lane keep assist' in the name and global marketing available in Australia sucked me in sadly. Which proves the point @dgkhn made earlier.

Not a hill worth dyeing on certainly and to be honest, it stings a lot less than being one of the many suckers that paid for Tesla's FSD and never so much as saw a beta trial (still not available in Australia!)

I wonder if it might be worth updating the title of this thread as a PSA for other prospective Australian buyers?

Strange - I would assume then that Audis and VWs also lack level 2 autonomous features, because surely they all use the same system. In fact I thought many manufacturers also share the same rebranded MobileEye system or something.

Or is it just Porsche being Porsche with options games?

Again you’ve got to navigate marketing mumbo jumbo but it looks like VW at least offers it in Australia. For eg a Golf R has:
Travel Assist

Travel Assist helps you to stay in your lane while maintaining a maximum speed and distance to the vehicle in front.

Interestingly the Audi Q6 e-tron doesn’t seem to offer it either

Won't that be lane departure warning rsthe than lane keep assist?

i do not understand why porsche australia is not able to answer your questions. but i am sure that your government did not permit it to be implemented.

It’s the same situation in NZ. I doubt it’s anything to do with the government here - we have a BMW iX M60 and the lane centering on that car is amazing and fully functional in NZ.

No there’s a seperate lane departure warning
LKA is part of Innodrive with ACC- I'm assuming you have these?

LKA isn't that great IMHO given the dependencies- signage, road markings and mappings. LDW is a good example of what can happen.

In the standard features part of the app, it lists ‘Lane Keeping Assist incl. Emergency Stop Function’. No reference there to Innodrive but it does also list ‘Without combinated longitudinal/transverse guidance’ whatever that means?? Maybe that translates to no active lane keeping/tracking?
