What is the disincentive to do buybacks? They can’t then resell the car as new? Is it the dealer or Porsche that resists it (or both) due to costs?

car is tagged as a "lemon" on the title - they have to sell it used - basically they will either lose $30k on this car given the owner cash - or $30k on the car buying it back and having to sell it as "used"

this one's a write off - they will never get full price for it again…

doesn't mean it's irredeemable as a functional vehicle - but it's price position is damaged…

personally I have (and would take) the money and other negotiated accommodations and get into a great car for a low low price and probably get the extended warranty making it consequence free until at least 2031…if you think about it for $50k the Macan 4 is a great value w/6 year warranty even if you have to wait a month or two for them to sort the repairs.

not to mention I get to flog the loaner while they fuss with my car…

but again that's just me.

Fair points. As long as it truly isn’t a lemon though. I had a Gallardo back in ‘04 that had all sorts of problems and after 1 yr and 18k miles (including track miles), the dealer lemoned it. (It was actually a good experience as I expected teething problems for that car, it wasn’t a daily driver, and they always picked up the car and delivered it back to the house. Plus they didn’t penalize me for any of the mileage and just asked I pay the difference in wholesale price for a brand new Gallardo of my spec. )

this message brought to you by my wife - who was quite distraught over "her" 2021 Cayenne when we were going through this, but is now thrilled we toughed it out and loves the "discount" we got on an otherwise excellent vehicle.

it should also be noted that if you take PCNA's money for this sort of thing does _NOT_ remove your ability/right to deal with the car has a lemon in the future - any monies paid will simply lower the agreed upon Lemon buy-back amount which purely calculated based on sales invoice minus an allowance for milage…

it's a free $30k worth of cash an any extras you can negotiate - it's the best deal on a vehicle/car you'll ever get in exchange for some time to let them resolve the issues.

I've heard my service advisor mention that when Porsche warranty cars hit 30 days at the service center, they are assigned a specific factory rep and watched like a hawk, requiring the local service center to feedback daily on the status. Porsche doesn't take these situations lightly.

Your issue definelty is factory related when it comes to receiving the new part - I'll be curious if the "no end in sight" is really that much longer.

On February 27, 2025, I picked up my brand new Porsche Macan 4. I am a first time Porsche owner, but have been driving an electric BMW for eight years and love the EV technology. I immediately noticed a warning light (see image) and brought the car in for service on March 20, 2025. Porsche identified a defect in a camera. After a three week wait for the new camera, it was installed and immediately blew "a module" in the car, rendering it completely undrivable. My car has been sitting at the service center for seven weeks and counting. It's been there longer than the amount of time I have driven the car, with no end in sight.

Porsche has offered me $29K to keep the car. I am not choosing this option as firstly, I do not currently have possession of the car and don't know when I ever will, and secondly, if they ever fix this problem I have zero confidence that they will be able to fix the next problem that comes along. So, I have made a buy back request of Porsche. I had high hopes for this car, it has so many wonderful features. But, in my experience, Porsche has released a car that is not ready for prime time

Hi. Sorry you’ve experienced this. I too was out for 1 month with loaner. Over all back 4 times. Lemon Law varies by state. New York State is 4 dealer repairs and min 30 days at dealer for repairs.

I filed. Porsche resisted. Paid me $5.5k
Car had another serious software flaw and required immediate dealer service. Another loaner. 6hour reboot and major software updates. Called PCNA customer service and noted my car is great when it works. I love it then.

but unexpected major software events has reduced car’s dependability so I cannot use it freely unless I go from point A to point Both being f my home /apartment home and office with safe garages.

Am awaiting Final decision. I told Porsche am loyal to brand and will order or buy in stock a new car that hopefully allows me confidence to drive freely for commuting and fun as one should be able to do.

@starfishmars did you get your car through special ordering via configurator and the rest procedure or did you get it by choosing one of the already availables at the dealership?
In any case I feel sorry with what you've been through,I'll also become 1st time Porsche owner this autumn (my 4S order locks in a couple of weeks) and I can feel your situation as much as possible.

The car I chose was already available through the dealership, I did not build it.

hmmm - $29k to keep the car as a cash payment -makes the effective cost of the car 49,800…

there is nothing on the market as good as a Macan 4 for $49,800

I'd negotiate the following:

• cash payment as noted
• use of a loaner indefinitely until Porsche can resolve the issues
• cover any payments while the car is being serviced
• CPO for 6 years/unlimited miles
• 4 years included service
• any accessories you want (floor mats, etc)

even if they take 2 months to fix it - that's $15k/month - pretty good "wage" for driving someone else's car while they fix it.

basically whenever Porsche screws up I look at them like an ATM machine…cause they really really don't like to do buy backs - while my 2021 Cayenne was being fixed I put 8000 miles on a loaner - 8000 miles that were not on my Cayenne…

a small change in perspective and this can work to your advantage - but that's just me.
