The U.S. Department of Defense has designated CATL as linked to China's military.
While the designation does not involve any restrictions on CATL's business, it can be a blow to the reputations of affected companies and serves as a stark warning to U.S. entities about the risks of doing business with them. It could also add pressure on the U.S. Treasury Department to sanction the companies.”

Every country wants a strong military. I wonder why the US so scared of Chinese military, and guess who sends their military in other countries :)

Supposedly Porsche makes their own battery packs. The Taycan uses LG parts, but the Macan uses CATL parts. It may be possible to get around the tariff by importing the parts from Germany as many products contain parts from China. Worst case is anyone in the US will pay more for such parts.

Almost certainly this will reduce sales of EVs made in China in the US which will be welcome for all other EV makers including Porsche, but especially Tesla. However, I’m not looking forward to price increases on electronics and other goods from China.

There is not one brand of EVs that are made in China that is for sale in the US.

For the most part, @PrudentOcean is correct and so is @masmole.

More significantly however, BYD was preparing to sell cars in the US and has a web site for this purpose:

https://www.byd.com/us/contact-us

I’m sure Tesla saw BYD as a more substantial threat and has probably successfully stopped the effort cold. This is no accident.

At this point it might be easier to list which foreign entities aren’t at risk from the new US administration

Whilst Tesla will probably gain from the US tariffs it will loose sales in Canada and EU and possibly elsewhere when those countries retaliate. I think US companies in China like Tesla should be concerned that the Chinese may strike back in other ways.
I hope I’m wrong, but as China has a stranglehold on the precious metals they will jack the prices up for all Western companies. A recent report indicates they are already moving to secure their position -

This week, significant developments unfolded regarding China’s strategic maneuvers in the critical minerals and electric vehicle (EV) technology sectors. The Chinese commerce ministry has put forward proposals for new export curbs on technology essential for battery components and critical minerals processing, such as lithium and gallium. These measures are designed to safeguard China’s dominant 70% market share in lithium processing for EV batteries and to support its domestic battery manufacturing giants, including Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (SHE: 300750), Gotion High-Tech Co., Ltd. (SHE: 002074), and EVE Energy Co., Ltd. (SHE: 300014). This move could significantly impact Western lithium producers who depend on Chinese technology, potentially stalling their operations and affecting the global expansion of these Chinese corporations

Don't forget about Polestar. I briefly considered the Polestar 4 before placing my Macan order.
