Macan Turbo delayed at port due to missing part

My Macan Turbo, yet to be delivered, has been sitting at the port of Benecia since May 1 due to what I’ve discovered is a missing component. Port is unwilling to share any more details with my dealer. Any idea what it could be and how long I can expect to wait?

A "missing component" that the port would be aware of or responsible for installed might be tires/wheels or port-installed accessories (tow hitch, carbon fiber trim, roof racks, offroad kits). Probably would not be something interior or drivetrain/mechanical since those don't really get touched at the port. Did you option any of that?

No, I don’t think there were any accessories spec’d on the car. Dealer has mentioned that cars have been shipped with missing electronic components in the past, such as during the chip shortage a few years back. Rather than hold up the assembly line, they shipped the cars incomplete and fixed them at the receiving port.

Those supply chain problems are history. It’s hard to imagine that they forgot to install something or shipped the car with something missing.

More likely the car incurred some minor damage during shipping, which is unfortunately not uncommon. Those issues are rectified before leaving port, but if the parts aren’t on hand they will need to be shipped from Germany. They don’t use part from a US distribution center because the car hasn’t been imported yet.

Yeah, there are no port-serviceable electronic components. Cars sometimes shipped without a headlight or a kick sensor or something detachable and not essential to moving the car around the port. But as PrudentOcean mentioned, there's been none of that from Porsche on the Macan.

It's either something you optioned that they forgot to put on at the factory or something damaged in shipping that they have to replace.

No, the car is officially tariff-protected according to Porsche. I'm assuming it won't drag on so long that it jeopardizes eligibility for the Federal EV tax credit.

I ordered floor mats and microfiber cloths as a part of my configuration - I hope they don’t hold at port if those aren’t available!
