Music always pausing

Anyone run into issues with either the radio, Spotify, car play/androidauto always pausing music (actually pausing the track). I seem to have it randomly within an hour window without fail. Could be on the hwy, could be parked in traffic, it just pauses by itself.

Have to drops out of navigation/maps, to.to Spotify etc and press play again.

no, i don't use it. but i'd track the time. See if it happens at the same time every time, or at different times...
i could simply be a time out setting from the app, or the car... youtube has a similar feature, but it's only present on mobile devices. it'll stop playing and give you a prompt to see if you're still watching after 15 minutes i think

Notifications on your phone perhaps - there may be a setting to ignore.

That’s probably an app without CarPlay integration.

Any notifications or sounds played by the app will prevent Spotify etc. from playing music, but because the app does support CarPlay there will be no indication of that on the PCM screen.

If you have a Ring or Blink system, check those.

I just got my macan last week.

I am having THE SAME ISSUE.

For first 3 days I used android auto, Samsung s25, Spotify. No issues with random pausing. But I ran into other issues (!!) so stopped using android auto a few days ago. (Eg music would start blasting from phone speaker when you get out of car)

So for last few days I started using the Spotify app inside the car system PCM for music. Solves my other problems.

But something I noticed is that prob within 5-15minutes of driving, the music will suddenly STOP, and you have to click Play to get it started again.

There doesn't seem to be any trigger. It seems random. It is while driving. No other notifications, camera, alerts, assistant, etc systems are triggered when it happens. It just the music stops.

It doesn't seem to be an app or buffering problem. Because the icon in the app switched immediately when it happens. And if you click Play after the music immediately resumes. It is as if the car is sending a command to stop music (??).

Also this isn't a phone related problem. The music isn't streaming or coming from the phone, it's directly from the car itself via the cars internally installed app. Even happens if I don't bring my phone with me.

Mind you my driving is maybe 20 mins max per trip right now. But it seems to happen 1x after car startup, and reoccurs again after the next car start up.

If anyone knows a fix, please share.

I wonder if this is due to the PCM app using the in-car cell phone config, with, in the USA, Verizon as the provider. The free level might not have the best service for streaming music, but for $20/month you can upgrade!

I have no idea how you could diagnose this to confirm it

Yes it happens to me too, very annoying. Stopped using the car's music player and just use AA for that reason.

Original poster here. Had these issues non stop, tried every possible, gave up on aa.

Then took mine in for the recalls (wsd0 or similar), and haven't had the issues at all since getting it back. Previously it was also forgetting my burmester config as well.

Doesn't seem likely it was related to the software upgrade for the hardware controllers. Perhaps a wire was off from the factory or something minor. Regardless though haven't had the issues at all from perhaps 30h driving, where as previously I would have had it every few minutes

I don't know what software version I have but I received it mid April. It also did not have these issues early on but now it's frequent. A 10 min drive pauses the music 2x probably. Even my AA has issues where it continues playing the music on my phone, which my other car has never done that. Very annoying..

I've got different issues with my media playing. We listen to SiriusXM exclusively in the car. About 30% of the time, it won't automatically start playing when we get into the car. Gotta physically pull up the Media player and select a SXM channel to get it to start.

Also, even though we always have SXM favorites saved, and the Favorites tab selected, the steering wheel Seek button doesn't recognize favorites (just scrolls between all channels)... UNTIL I manually choose a favorite channel to play. Only after that will it recognize the favorites are active and scroll thru only those. Basically we have to manually select a channel from the favs list every damn time we get in the car instead of just picking up where it left off like every other car on the planet.

Also, the diamond button rarely works when set to Seek Previous. Can't even figure out a pattern to that one.

i’m seeing a similar problem while playing music from the car’s tidal app. it stops every time i enter a garage. it stops 50/60 percent of the time i go under an overpass and it’s hit or miss when i pass under large trees! ? need to pay more attention as to how tidal works via carplay.

I am using the car's Tidal app as well. As you may know there are different mobile data streaming rates available when using Tidal and if you are streaming at the maximum rate (up to 24-bit 192 kHz) driving into the parking garage or going under an overpass will affect the signal strength and temporarily interrupt the playing of the track. Unfortunately, when you regain the signal and press play the track starts over, rather than picking up where you left off. You could lower the streaming rate but then you would also be sacrificing the sound quality.

concerning lowering the streaming rate from max to low. it still pauses when entering a garage ?

Sorry to hear. I guess it is no different than with Satellite radio, if you don't have a clear line of sight (or in this case a decent 5G signal) you lose the service.
