I called my dealer after this happened to me for the 4th time, but they could not fit me in for several weeks. They suggested I call Porsche Assistance. In the UK this is subcontracted to the AA. They arrived at my house within 1 hour of the call (impressive), spent a while talking to their remote Porsche expert, but said they could not resolve the issue and referred me back to the dealer. I am back at square one and do not trust the car to remain secure when I leave it in public right now.

There is a separate thread on here for the same issues too. It seems this is not uncommon at present.

i returned to my car last night after several hours visiting a relative in hospital to fnd the window ½ way down again on the hospital car park. This is nt at all good and definitely not an area of Manchester where you want to leave a car unsecure. Still no new from the dealership.

My dealer advises me to clean the guides. If the problem persists then do the following procedure to calibrate the limit switches:
1- Lower the window while holding down the button at the first click.
2- Press to the 2nd click and hold for 6 seconds.
3- Raise the window while holding down the button at the first click.
4- Press to the 2nd click and hold for 6 seconds.
I haven't tried it yet if it works.

Thanks but I do that every time it happens ! If I didnt, the window would remain permanently open. I will post on here if/when I get a permanent fix..

What do you think about asking Porsche to modify the app so that it sends a notification in case of open windows and open doors?
If many of us did it by sending an email and maybe also in copy to their dealership, they could listen to us...

Same issue here. Driver side. Raise it all the way up, drops down halfway by itself.

On Sunday I found the left side window halfway down in a shopping center parking lot. Very dangerous. After 2 attempts with the limit switch memory procedure I managed to close it.
Last night when I got into the car the left rear window went down by itself. When I tried to raise it it would go all the way up and then go back down halfway by itself. Only after 4 attempts to reset the limit switches was I able to close it.

Mine is now booked in at the Porsche dealership next week to review. I'll update on here with the findings - although its an intermittent fault so may take a few weeks for confidence to be fully restored if they think they have fixed it.

In a recent 'Masterclass' session at the same dealership, the Porsche adviser pondered if this may be related to the 'long press' on the remote to Open/close all windows and maybe there was a fault with that. As a temporary measure, I have disabled that feature in the Car settings to see if it can stop this reoccurring. It's only been 2 days since I did it, so too soon to be sure, bu you may want to do the same if you are experiencing the same security issues that me and others have been...

Well, my car spent the day with the Porsche dealership on Tuesday. They said they reset the system (whatever that means) and cleared all errors.

This morning, I returned to the vehicle on a hotel car park and the passenger window was half open again. I called the dealership who said their next available date to look at it is mid April. I asked them to try harder and call me back. No calls thus far... very disappointing.

Well, it continues to happen several times per week and my local dealer continues to push me out by months rather than days before they can fit me in to look at it again. I am convinced they do not know how to even investigate this issue and are embarrassed to admit it. I have asked for the dealership principal to contact me to discuss but nothing but radio silence. Premium service?

Hey - it only leaves the car and its contents totally insecure, so clearly not urgent and something I need to just accept as being new technology, teething problems, etc.

Frankly, it's pants.

FWIW, it strikes me that you are being too polite. If your windows randomly open halfway while the car is parked that essentially makes the car unusable, i.e. unfit for purpose. This is in a different category from, e.g. a badly fitting port door.

If the dealer is saying "we can't fit you in for the next two months", then that is a blatant lie. Obviously they can fit you in, but they are choosing not to, and they ought not to have that option. Certainly if you have not yet done so you ought to be making a big fuss with Porsche UK.

In the US, you'd be pretty close to being able to lemon lawing the car. I was under the impression that the UK has fairly robust consumer protection laws regarding unusable vehicles also? in your scenario, I'd be real close to threatening lawsuit and contacting suitable regulating authorities. I don't know if you're financing the car from Porsche in someway but if so, I'd be telling Porsche I'm not paying for this car until I can use it again.

Obviously, I can't know, but from your description of the sequence of events, it strikes me that the problem is most likely hardware in one way or another: sensors, motor, window retraction mechanism. At this point, the dealership should just replace all of the related hardware for that window, if they have no other way of diagnosing the problem.

it goes without saying that this is an unacceptable level of service from Porsche and the dealer.

...and I had just started to calm down after my latest rant at the dealership ! Agreed, totally unacceptable and I am convinced they are embarrassed and simply do not know what to do next with these issues. I'm going to another dealership locally to see what they have to say.
