Passenger Airbag overhead warning light always on

The orange warning light on the overhead console is on all the time.
Is there a way to turn this off?

I’ve noticed this today, the manual is quite confusing but essentially I believe it to be normal. Did you have anyone sat in the seat at the time?

It clears as soon as the passenger seat is occupied

Thanks for the reply. When nobody is in the seat it stay on with the message airbag deactivated. When somebody is in the seat it seems to be 50/50.

This is from the manual, I don’t have the option to manually switch off the front pax airbag in my car:

Passenger airbag with automatic switch-off

The vehicle has an occupant classification system in the passenger seat for automatic activation and deactivation of the passenger airbag. If there is a child up to 1 year of age in a rear-facing child restraint system in the front passenger seat, the front passenger airbag will be deactivated automatically. If there is a person in the front passenger seat, the front passenger airbag will be activated automatically.

If light persons are sitting in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag may not be activated automatically. If heavier children are transported in a rear-facing child restraint system, the passenger airbag may be activated. In both cases, the occupant or child restraint system must be transported in a rear seat.

The status of the passenger airbag is displayed via the display in the overhead console.

Thanks for that. Yes that’s the message I see. It stays on, which is a little annoying.
