I'm scheduled to pick up my 4S in a couple of weeks and putting a checklist together. I reviewed this old thread, but hoping to hear about more recent experiences.

I'm buying it outright without financing, and the SA is telling me to bring a bank draft for the full amount. Sounds reasonable! But I'm a bit spooked since I lose leverage if there are issues and they've already been paid 100% before I've driven it off the lot. Here's what I'm thinking:

- Confirm the car has all the latest software updates (I've asked and haven't gotten an answer after a few days of waiting...)
- Get soft copies of all of the paperwork I'll need to sign and warranty options ahead of time. I do not want to have to blindly sign a bunch of stuff that I'm seeing for the first time or make any quick decisions when I get there.
- At pickup, do a full inspection, as per that previous thread. Get the My Porsche app connected.

Anything I'm missing? Any pitfalls people have experienced at pickup? Any other questions the SA should answer ahead of time?

Thank you!!

Make sure carplay works and have the dealer set up plug and charge before you leave the lot. (if you get something similar in Canada).

Before driving off, turn off all the driver's assistance features until you have a chance to investigate how they work. You can be surprised and confused by the car pushing back on your steering input at an inopportune moment.

There have been a couple setting up the Macan videos around that are good to review.

They should be happy to let you inspect the car before you sit down and sign the paperwork. They may let you test drive (supervised). You will have to ask.

As far as paperwork on a cash deal, there is not much more that one sheet with list of fees and selling price. You sign that, you sign a "don't owe me paper", there may registration/title paperwork depending on your location. There is not much to review. For leasing there are several documents with fine print, and a little less for financing.

Typically you have all the details worked out prior to picking up the car at which point you hand over the check. Be sure you are satisfied before handing it over.

Super duper helpful, thanks @ColdCase! Good idea to turn off the driver assist features to start, and I've checked out a couple of setup videos to get familiarized with stuff ahead of time.

Most importantly, have fun. It's exciting you're picking up your new car at a Porsche center, you're paying for the experience so milk it.

My car originally came without a luggage shelf and I made a mental note to build an inventory list of all of the removable parts (shelf, tools, etc.) to check upon pickup. This actually accomplishes two things: (1) it makes certain you have them all and (2) it shows you how to access all of the "hidden" parts and make certain they are fully seated so that they don't rattle.

Another angle on the software updates is just to ask if all of the recalls have been implemented or if there are any outstanding recalls. The recalls will list any software updates

I am the same situation. I have my Delivery Experience at PECLA next week. Thanks for all the input so far.

Make sure the Electrify America "Plug and Charge" is working. It is possible to fix this yourself, but it's cumbersome and a bit of trial and error.

is there an actual way to test this during the delivery experience or do any issues only pop up when at EA trying to charge for the first time?

If you don't already have one, create an account at Porsche.com. Download the "My Porsche" mobile app and when you get access to the car, have them login to your account in the car itself. Add the car to your mobile app. In the app, go to "Account" tab, tap "Charging Service" and you if you see error messages there (about certificates not installed), then it's not setup right.

A number of us have reported a knocking/rattling from the back of the car. It comes from rear door not being fully secure. There is a simple fix for this where you just slightly unscrew the rubber stoppers on the left and right sides, but if you're able to go for a test drive over a bumpy road, you'll hear it and you should have them deal with it. Otherwise, just do a search here and the fix is in the forum.

My VIN has been added my online and app profiles. One of the next steps online is to activate the free year of charging under Porsche Charging Service. It appears that the plan activation starts as soon as you save the information online. Is this typically started as part of the Delivery Experience? If I complete the set up for the charging account online today it starts the clock running on the free year today. I would rather wait until next week to do this as part of the delivery. Is that typical?

I think you should wait until the day of delivery to do all this then. Should be fine.

I am also curious to know what people feel, in hindsight, that they forgot to ask about, check or double-check, figure out, regret not inquiring about, etc... during their delivery experience.

I think what you are seeing is the basic setup of using the Porsche app at a charging station, free or not. The dealer has to do something to activate the free year and he usually does that during delivery as the SA goes through the car and profile setup. .
