Hey everyone! I recently had full-body PPF installed on my Macan EV Turbo. While the coverage is excellent overall, I've noticed that certain areas weren’t wrapped, particularly on the rear bumper right next to the black "air outlets" trim pieces.

My installer mentioned that the PPF cannot fully reach these sections.

At first, this isn’t very noticeable, but after a few days of driving, dust and grime accumulate along the film’s edge, creating a distinguishable gray line on the paint.

  • For those who have had PPF applied to a Macan Turbo, did you notice a similar issue in these areas?
  • If so, what adjustments or solutions did your installer use to minimize or prevent this dust line?
I’d appreciate any insights.

They had the right idea, just poorly executed. They should redo that for you. Here’s mine.

Our Tesla looked like that in those bumper areas. Dirt and grime gets into the contact areas will look worse over time, especially on a lighter color. Decided against ppf on the Porsche.

PPF shops use a template but they can modify it (usually to give a bit more overage). Good shops can do per template OR totally custom. They should be able to modify or customize to cover this up.

This looks like the shop used a template and the relief cut is on the bottom. My ‘25 Taycan has a similar vent design and the relief cut is up top. The hole would have stretched it thin so there is a similar unprotected area on the top of my vent but the installer put an extra piece in that area and did a clean butt up with the template cut. Only you’d know it’s there but it’s smooth and clean.

Seeing others wrap their Macan with matte PPF (e.g. here), it seems full coverage is required. How is this handled in those cases?

That’s my Turbo in the video that I posted pics above on. Because of the inlet it has to have that pie section. If you look at my pictures, their lines are super clean and not hardly noticeable. And we Ceramic coated on-top of the PPF.

I got my car back today after getting it PPF wrapped and ceramic coated, getting the RS Spyders and calipers ceramic coated, getting all glass ceramic coated, and the full leather interior ceramic coated.

I took a close look at the vent area in the rear and thought the shop handled it well. There is a small section that doesn’t have PPF on it, but it is pretty deep inside the vent and I have Slate Gray Neo paint, so I’m not too worried about a dirt line becoming visible. The white spots on the black plastic are water from the PPF application process. I’m not supposed to wash the car for two weeks to allow the ceramic coating to cure, so I will live with those for now.

Quick picture taken in the garage, it was already dark outside. Will try to take a better one when conditions are more suited.

It really does look well handled, congrats!

If you get the chance, I’d appreciate a photo that highlights the section without PPF. Thank you.

It is just a tiny line. Seems to collect dirt (as expected) but it is barely noticeable given the location and color of the paint.

The car is a bit dirty right now, I was told to wait two weeks before washing it to allow the ceramic coating on the PPF and glass to fully cure.
