I went with the new Viofo (A308?) and am very happy with the ease of use and quality of the front and rear video, even in the dark. The only issue I have is not being able to figure out where to piggyback in the power cord for the full "parking mode" functionality.
If anyone has a suggestion as to where I can find a set of fuses to use, I'd appreciate it. Even my local installation places are stymied (and it doesn't help that when they called Porsche, they were told if they even tried to do it, it would void my warranty).
I can't say how it is outside the EU. But in Germany, any tampering with the vehicle's electronics voids the warranty. Especially if the uncontrolled functions of such additional devices lead to the 12-volt battery being damaged.
In general, I don't understand the point. Porsche supplies a camera that is certainly top of the range in terms of quality. Is it really worth spending hours tinkering with it yourself or having an unauthorized workshop work on the car? Am I missing something? Do these Chinese cams have functions that Porsche doesn't have?
The imaging from mine is MUCH better than that from the Porsche cam and my dealer will not install the dash cam kit since I didn't buy it that way. Maybe it's just them (they really are not the most helpful, I will not likely buy from them in the future)...
