When I got my Tesla model s three years ago the voltage of the cigarette lighter through which my escort 360 radar detector was connected kept going up causing the device to shut down to over voltage!! Any specific radar detector recommended for Porsche Ev ??

I have had fast cars and enjoyed driving them for decades. I have tried various brands of radar detectors. The one I have used for years and use in my 2020 Taycan 4S is Valentine 1. The Valentine 1 is both radar and laser detection. Expensive but well worth the price to not have tickets.

I have a v1 but read a lot of good things about the uniden r7/ r8.

I'm always switching between different cars so it wasn't ideal for me to swap around all the time and I stopped using my v1. Honestly, the v1 just made me not speed at all. I guess it works one way or the other.

Why is that? Too many false positives?
you're just more aware of your speed so when you do a get a false alarm you tend to slow down and keep your speed at the limit.

Image had a couple escorts and they were great. Ever since I had my Tesla and had voltage issues I stopped using radar detector all together. I use traffic ahead of my on highways to warn me of speed traps (when cars in front of me on highways stop for no apparent reasons) and in smaller streets and roads and I don’t go past 9over speed limits. I feel I would like to have the detectors for those inside roads that have unrealistic low speeds.
when I did recent searches I read a lot about the uniden

Uniden r8 is great. Just make sure you set the options properly for the areas that you travel in.

I first was considering installing the all around imbedded radar detector k40 however ripping my brand new car apart to do so was out of the question. Then I decided to get a portable uniden r8 and have it hard wired.
After I did so I realized the heated windshield i specced in my new car was actually interfering with the radar detector. It was not getting any front signals and when I expect a front signal I instead get it as a rear signal to the point that I thought there was something wrong with the device. Till I read somewhere on this platform that the windshield is the problem. I re mounted it so that the sensors are pointing through the opening made in the windshield for toll devices. It seems to be working fine. Anyone here had similar experience and will the mounting at the toll device space in the windshield still have its maximum detection or will it be compromised.
