I love my Macan EV but the set-up of the car key is terrible. Specifically why is the button to open the car doors the 2nd from the top rather than the top button, just as it is in the Taycan. When the key is in my pocket it is so easy to open my Taycan because it is the very first button. But with the Macan I often open the frunk by mistake. It is much trickier to find BY FEEL the 2nd button rather than the top first button.

So, why can we not purchase a Taycan car key and program it for the Macan?

Any electronic experts out there know if this should be technically possible? If technically possible I’ll then contact Porsche to get it done. Thank you.

i only carry the key on me but have it setup so when i walk close to the car it unlocks itself. and when leaving the car it locks also. So no need really for any keypress. Even the trunk opens / closes nice with the foot movement.

yeah, tha'ts how i work...rarely do i need to actually lock or unlock...it's set up to do it automatically based on my proximity to the car... That being said, the only other uses would be for the trunk or frunk....which the buttons being at the ends of the remote, make it easy to press in my pocket through my clothes....
So they Porsche might have just thought a step ahead of everyone on this....
however, i think they should have put buttons on the side instead 4 in a row. Maybe 2 on face, and two on side.
My wifes Kia has like 7 buttons hers! ...but 4 are along a ridge, and 3 are on the face.

No Comfort Access, no need to push any button to unlock or lock?

the Macan uses UWB for signaling. Does the Taycan use this latest tech ?

This is exactly the issue I am having!

Did you manage to get a Taycan key working?
I dont have comfort access, mainly due to the issue of relay attacks etc being everywhere in my area.

My dealer said it would not work, unfortunately. Please do let me know if your dealer advises otherwise. Thank you!

Relay attacks? You have a keyfob with or without comfort access and so unless you keep your fob in a Faraday pouch or far away from the car you will always be vulnerable to that sort of theft.

I don't have comfort access either. Even then on a recent trip to France, stopping at a French motorway services for lunch break, when I returned to my car the luggage from the boot had been stolen.
So, somehow they managed to open the boot, and lock it as when I returned, the car was locked.
I was surprised, as I was under the impression, without comfort access, it's harder to unlock!

The issue is that these scum thieves sit with a scanner detecting signals from any and all keyfobs.

The issue is that most keyfobs even when not in use are 'active' and transmitting a signal. This can then be skimmed and used to unlock / lock a vehicle.

Use a keyfob pouch which is a Faraday cage design - no signal can be leaked.

Some fobs go to sleep also but not Porsche as far as I know.
