Hi,

I backed out of my driveway this morning and I thought I felt the rear end wobble like a tire was about to fall off. I shrugged it off as there is snow and ice on the roads and thought I was going over compact snow. When arriving at work, I have to turn full lock to drive right into the charging station parking spot without adjustments. I felt the same thing, the car was wobbling like a wheel is going to fall off, or something was bumping the rear quarter of the car. I reversed to trigger it again (which it did) and forward again (all while still turning). It's not a small bump, but a very noticeable wobble. It only happens when turning, and the car is perfectly straight on highways. I don't feel anything on the steering wheel or hear any strange noises. Temperature is -20C (although the car is reporting -15C...it's incredible how they can't even get the outdoor temperature right in a $140k car.). Has anyone experienced this with RAS? There are no errors, warnings or any alarms. I will call my SA to schedule an appointment (basically once every month and I haven't hit 800km on it yet). Sorry I keep sounding bitter in my posts, the issues are stressing me out given the cost of this car. I never bought a car near this price range and it has been nothing but unacceptable problems. Thanks in advance for support (emotional and technical 😓🤗 )

This sounds like the AckermanneEffect which is common on most if not all Porsches.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_geometry

Normally it's the front wheels and worst when on larger wheel rims sizes and in cold damp weather at parking speeds.

The Macan EV has 5 degree turning on the rear axle compared to the Taycan which has 2 degrees.

I have RAS on my Taycan and get the issue on the front only but never the rear.

This might be the explanation and if so will be "normal".

Yeah. I feel/hear this on my GT3. Not related to rear wheel steering. Just the Ackermann effect and mostly due to width, makeup and temperature of the tires.

Thanks for the information! It's the first time I felt it despite taking the same turns/speed multiple times but never at these temperatures. Let's see how it feels when I leave the office later today. Temperature should be at -8C compared to -22C this morning. Is this a Porsche/German car thing? Never felt it in my previous cars but never had anything fancy like this Macan.

I just did a quick spin around the parking lot, and you're right, it is coming from the front. It's -9C now but won't warm up that much until tomorrow/later this week where we will hit +7 Celsius. Thanks again for the support, really hope this is a normal issue although it is not a comfortable thing to experience. I emailed my service advisor anyway just in case.

You may still experience above zero temps / low temps in general.
