In the Macan there is an SOS button for the roadside assistance feature that needs to be green in color to show it is activated. It is currently still red in color as they all are when the cars arrive at the dealer. The car has been at the Dealer, Irvine Porsche, for over a week now after delivery from the port upon arrival in the US. The dealer has been trying to do a software update with no success, now they say Porsche North America needs to send a tech to work on the can and that looks like it won't happen till next week. It looks like Porsche has real problems with their software. I am begging to wonder if the new Macan EV is not ready for prime time.

This was a common issue with early Taycans, so the recommendation always was to never agree to delivery unless the red SOS button issue is resolved. Boggles the mind they still have not figured it out.

I wrote earlier of my disappointment that the Macan Electric we ordered arrived from Germany with a programming glitch. Just to be clear, my disappointment has nothing to do with the highly professional and gracious staff at Porsche Irvine. Michael and the team there have been working to resolve the issue with caring attention. We are grateful.

The Macan EV now has been at the dealership since 12/13/24, coming up on a month and Porsche still has not been able to fix the problem and deliver the car. How long to wait is too long?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Porsche software. We Taycan owners have become used to these issues...

To be fair, there has not been any recent reports of the red SOS button holding up deliveries of new Taycans. This was a persistent issue for some time, but resolvable within a reasonable amount of time. This case is unacceptable with no help from Germany or PCNA. I think the local dealership is not working hard enough to resolve it as they have resources with regional reps, PCNA, and Germany to address these issues.

True, the red SOS button issue hasn’t been reported frequently but software glitches in general have been a constant since the launch of Porsche EVs.
