Wish this thread has stayed on its initial focus setting auto re-coup or not instead of moving to a separate subject of ride quality.

Good point! I have been using regen in city and off on highway... more fun while sailing down the canyons... I have it mapped to the "diamond" button on the steering wheel.

When I got my CPO it was already set up in auto regen. I have enjoyed it tremendously, personally far more than the iX’s “through you forward” one pedal decel (even at lowest setting). Never changed it on my Macan for it has been to me very positive in auto regen.

At least not until this thread. I am now going to try it out on a two hour drive today and if I like it perhaps as Sabine suggested use my joker button to turn it easily on and off.

I thank all who contributed to the initial “regen on versus off” posts of this thread.

Speaking of which, the regen is much better than I expected it would be. Comments I read made it sound very weak but I'd call it more medium. It definitely slows the car somewhat significantly when letting off the pedal. I'm happy with that.

It's not strong regen like experienced with full 1PD, but I wouldn't call it weak either, at least compared to what I'm used to.

Just came back from my two our test drive with first setting the joker button to be as suggested previously, e.g. on and off auto regen.

I found that for me using auto regen 90% of the time (except for perhaps interstate and similar driving) works best. But for others, the answer will be different based on their terrain, the amount of their cruise control usage, and other factors. Nice we have the option.

Upon pulling into my garage a few minutes ago, first thing I did was to set back to auto regen and the second was to change my joker button back to “previous radio channel.”

I haven't test driven one yet, but I heard the audi e-tron models use the paddle shifters to control regen strength. I thought this was a brilliant idea because that's what I do now in my ice cars to downshift and engine brake

once i realized how good coasting was in this car, i had set my joker button to regen on/off.... I would basically only turn it on a couple hundred feet before I would a would actually use the break pedal...then a couple months after that, i realized that i'm effectively doing the same thing by leaving it off. I felt that having regen on and braking, gave MORE regen...but having to constantly press it on/off while driving became a distraction...

Curious what you mean by "how good coasting was"? Do you mean for efficiency (range)? Or handling corners? Or just how the drive feel is on the highway?

For me, i did test runs for about a week. Each day with Regen on vs off so basically same daily route. I found that for my terrain, my driving style and just general comfort, Coasting yielded a more comfortable experience and better efficiency. YMMV of course

i mean just how far the car will coast! especially with the rolling hills in my area...i can coast for miles.
I'm near a mountain, so there are pretty steep hills near me. And regen is too strong to coast down them. It slows me down too much...
