Who puts cross bars on their vehicle for aesthetic appeal? Its functional. You put them on when needed and then take them off.

The roof rails looks like you can mount any generic roof rack, most of them are better looking than this. I'll test my Thule rack and ski box when I get the car in a month.

Comments on appearance aside, I’m curious… How easily do these go on and off? As noted, they’re functional and best removed when not in use (range and all). My reading on them says this is their biggest advantage—easy installation/removal. Is this the case?
