Thoughts on Frame center console leather or Race-Tex

Two new options added with the introduction of the Macan and Macan 4S where Frame center console leather or race-tex. I'm considering optioning this to perhaps increase the interior quality feel by reducing the hard plastic around that area. What do others think, and do we have any clear pictures that show what it's like without the leather or Race-tex?

I optioned it on the Taycan and don’t regret it. Especially nice as you can add your own stitching color. It is a small luxurious detail so it all depends on your budget. I have it ordered it my new Macan but photos are rare I’m afraid.

Since we are going with black leather, the additional benefit of the ordering the center console surround is that we are able to add a lighter color to it (no longer sold black), thus nicely mimicking the two-color other interior option colors in that surround. Yes expensive, but to us the double benefit (including the stitching color) will be worth it.

Re the question above, other than this following description, they give us 15 color options of our leather and to test your question I chose black/bordeaux leather, than selected center console surround and it allowed me to pick any of the 15 colors (so for fun I chose Speed Yellow) and it allowed both options together Also regards to the question can one pick the leather color AND separately the stitching, think the following screen print is Porsche’s way of saying yes.

On the US configurator you can only choose the stitching color. The leather color is determined by your choice of leather interior - black, brown (or crayon, red for the two tone interiors.)

this seems identical to the way it was on the Taycan. So if you picked speed yellow this will be for the stitching. The main leather color will be Bordeaux red with the red/black choice.

You are experienced. I am a newbie and while that is how it was and still is done for the Taycan, that makes no sense for the title is not “Center Console Surround Stitching” but “Center Console Surround in Leather” — and they give you 15 colors to choose from. Only in the one sentence of description clarification does it first mention stitching color.

In parallel on the Macan EV, the same occurs with the Interior Trim In Deviated leather for the upper door panels, in which they give you eight colors choices and you see when you pick one, even one completely unrelated to the main leather interior trim you have chosen, that color chosen actually show up on the door panel under the 360 view— confirming that the color you have chosen there is the color that will be in the car in that location. Example below (screen shot of a black/bordeaux Mecan interior with a just for example chosen Speed Blue door trim insert).

I get your logic but it seems to me that the Taycan’s practices are not repeated here in the Macan. We need a true Porsche specialist to clarify/confirm either way, or the next configurator upgrade to confirm that same question.

The description is correct. The standard finish is hard plastic so you are paying for it to be in leather or Racetex.

Double check with your SA but I’m 99% on this one.

I will definitely do that before ordering. If you are correct and it is merely a change from hard plastic to leather, how come they give us 15 leather choices when just under half of the leather color choices are not available in any of the interiors?

Just to confirm - the color choices are for the stitching. However when the option is labeled “Deviated leather” e.g for interior trim or seat centers this indicates that you can change the leather color as a contrast to what comes as standard.

rereading the specs the description does say that the leather package comes with leather center console surround which is confusing, especially since all the interior photos I have seen show it as hard plastic.
