Timing for CarPlay Ultra Update?

Since Porsche announced they were working with Apple on this, the collaboration with Rivian for car software has also been announced. Rivian doesn’t support Car Play in their own cars.

Who knows what will happen here. Will the current Macan generation will get an update to a Rivian based platform, or CarPlay Ultra, or only minor tweaks to the current PCM with something new for 27/28/29?

I wouldn't count on an update. Porsche rarely provides significant upgrades to already-produced cars. If Carplay Ultra is introduced, it will likely be added to the MY26 or later. That said, looking at competitors, Porsche should start considering how to keep "older" models updated if they want to remain competitive, especially with younger customers. Still, it would be a really nice surprise if MY25 got Carplay Ultra.

Rivian blocks CarPlay because of a design philosophy (the same way Porsche blocks one-pedal driving because they believe Porsches are driver's cars). Rivian's stance on this doesn't affect any VW product development. Rivian's software is all built on AAOS, just like the Macan EV, and nothing about it would prohibit CarPlay Ultra interaction.

Hopefully they won’t behave like that.
If they don’t provide first customers with significant software updates, and in the meantime the updates are available on new cars, it would help me in the future to choose my new car...
